CIGARHead Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 2 days ago we went fishing for the usual Redfish and Trout. On the water at sunrise, my first cast with topwater and had an estimated 5-6lb trout..But Trout have a funny way of getting right up to the boat and then give you the ole F-You Shake...gone. Oh well. After a few reds we head to get some Mangrove Snapper for dinner. Bujt lucky us, theres baby tarpon rolling on top. I landed this little guy after 4 huge aerials and some screamin drag on my light tackle. A few quick pics and I release the little guy to grow into one of the worlds most beautiful and awsome gamefish!
TexaSmoke Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Sounds like you had a good day. I wish I was going fishing sometime soon.
winelover Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 What a fantastic way to pass time. Great pics.
Miami101 Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Great pic: I have to put up some of my Snook fishing photos.
Moglman Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Tarpon never fails to excite. Even when I was unable to hook up in the past, they always give me such a rush knowing they're there, it takes me hours to relax. Excellent pics!!
Wolfe Tone Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Absolutely gorgeous. I have to catch a tarpon before I die. And a Cubera snapper, and a Tigerfish, and , and a Wahoo, and a Mako, and a Striped Marlin and a .....oh man. I can never die.
tigger Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Looks like fun! :-) Some of the most exciting fishing I've done has been catching young Northern Pike on light tackle.
El Presidente Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Nice catch mate I love it when the Tarpon run here during sunner. Landing one of Fly is aways a hell of a thrill :-P
CIGARHead Posted August 20, 2007 Author Posted August 20, 2007 » Nice catch mate » » I love it when the Tarpon run here during sunner. Landing one of Fly is » aways a hell of a thrill :-P We are going back this week to try them out on fly. Those babies are so much more challenging to catch because they jump and thrash so much. Rob, on of these days Ill make it to Australia and you have to line us up a fishing excursion. I want a DogTooth Tuna!!
