I was given a cigar today. I was told it wasn't a Cuban but it was intriguing to me, so I took a pic to post here and ask about it:

But first I thought I'd have a Google and found this:

By this time I was down to the last third. (I'd burned $40 worth)

To my untrained palate as a newbie, it tasted quite earthy and a little more peppery than I'm used to (I love Monte 4s). It drew a little too easily, maybe a bit dry, I prefer a little resistance and it burned very evenly with a white ash.

Bloody 'ell, that's my first review.

So it was a pre embargo (I guess to the States).

Questions that come to me are why was it made in Nicaragua when it had a Habano band and why was the band stamped "Counterfeit"?

A little history lesson please from any knowledgable one (ones)

TIA,

Mel,

I'm sorry to tell you this, but that's not a pre embargo cigar. I've never seen one of these with an EL band. I hope you didn't have to pay $40+ for it.
