So I'm sitting out on my porch with my 10 year old Son. I fire up a Sig VI. After about 5 minutes, my son Matt says, Dad, that cigar really stinks! Now, to be honest, I really wasn't enjoying it very much. I was the last of a couple of singles that I bought (it's been sitting at 65% for 3 months), I really didn't enjoy the others either. I asked my Son if some of the Cigars I smoked smelled good and he said, "Yes, but this one stinks".

Well I toughed it out through the first third to see if there'd be any glimmer of hope for the second third. Nope, no dice. Bye bye Sig VI. :-(

I don't see myself investing in any Sig VI's any time soon, and that's disappointing for me. To be honest, I'm still waiting for an expensive cigar to show me why it carries the price it does and I've yet to have any of the 20 dollar cigars out shine a Monte #4 or a CoRo on it's best day.

Maybe this is lack of experience on my part or an underdeveloped palate, by my 10 year old has spoken. Maybe that's sound advice.

I've yet to smoke a cigar yet that I really enjoyed that didn't have a pleasant fragrance. Maybe my son knows more about cigars than I do. :-)

Well, I guess I'm one of the hethens in your camp.....this is a cigar I can live without,

regardless of price. I'll take the robusto any day as well.

I really feel bad about it, I really do. I've TRIED to like this guy. It just wouldn't stand up for me..:lookaround:

Why feel bad? Taste is subjective - revel in it! Besides, the fact that one member in

particular - let's call him Sven Dardett - adores them, should make you feel better;-)

HEHE :-)

Well, I guess Cigars is another area where the ole, "You get what you pay for" adage doesn't work. Yessir you are correct, we are all different. Sven, I don't see how you do it! ;-)

Some of the VIs I've had have not been that great, and I'm thinking you may have come across that are similar. However, I will say that the VI that is smoking the way it should, and as most are, it is the best cigar on the market.

I'd suggest you try another batch, I had an 07, thanks Prez, not long ago and yes it showed it's youth but was a great cigar:

3 months is not a lot of time, as you know. 6 months to a year is a more to the cigar.

Why worry

I seldom reach for a Siglo VI. I have friends who smoke hardly anything else. I will take a Cohiba Robusto over a VI any day.

It doesn't make it a bad cigar. Just not to my preference.

I have had some exceptional Siglo VI however. Smooth, Silky, creamy/grass.

» I only have one thing to say: ROMEO Y JULIETA CAZADORES ;-)

According to Robs description, the Cazadores is a kick in the nuts nicely rolled up in a stick! :surprised:

Ether... I doubt that you would enjoy that or that your 10yo son would approve of it...

perhaps a less threatening description would make some of us give it a try (the one above less fun than having root-canal treatment without anaesthesia)...

I actually prefer Rob's shop commentary on the Cazadores: "... There is no hiding the fact that the Cazadores comes out of the gate like a raging bull....and never really settles down. ..."

My experiances with siglo vi has usually been good. i've picked up singles from time to time and they've usually been high quality smokes, smooth rich and creamy my type of cigar though the price was outrageous about $40AUS each.

the siglo vi is pricey but i can't think of a time they have let me down. i am a huge fan. go coro if short on time, otherwise, this is a special smoke. perhaps i've just been lucky.

if not so expensive, i'd be smoking these far more often.
