bigkev Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I have always been a fan of the R&Js and recently placed an order for the aged #4s dating 2002. I have been somewhat dissapointed with their flavor or lack there of. I have smoked three so far and there seems to be some inconsistencies with their taste. I don't know if it is just me, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had the same experience with them. There also seems to be holes that go through the ash when burnt, almost if someone drilled a small hole? Thanks for your feedback!
Colt45 Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I can't comment on the Ex No.4, but I have had cigars with the aforementioned hole. They tend to run the length of the cigar, and while you may have a good draw, usually there will be little smoke volume. We never did come to a conclusion, but I'd have to believe it a construction flaw.
Professor Twain Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 My box is from 1999 and they are superb. Somtimes they need a little more time to settle in your humidor, and perhaps at a lower humidity. Let them rest for a while and see how they do.

I truly enjoyed this one while sitting on my porch watching my bird dogs run around with my son's BB gun at my side, protecting the house;-)
El Presidente Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 2002 did not produce "generally" powerhouse cigars. The R&J Exhibicion no 4 from this year is light to medium bodied but should produce some lovely charred cherry and cream notes. Do us a favour. Take one out and "dry box" it until Saturday (ie...in a desktop humidor without humidification...or just on your desk) and provide us with a full review. I would like to read it :-)

It's my anniversary too. Maybe I will even get lucky.
