bassman Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Thanks to Shrink for suggesting this, and to Lisa for providing the goods. I've always prefered the cabinet Lonsdale to the 898V. My 03 898s didn't have the depth of flavor or richness my 02 Lonsdales have. But these 06 898Vs are a revelation- flavor as rich as the Lonsdale, but totally different. While the Lonsdale has an earthy flavor I love in a cigar, the 06 898 has a lovely cocoa taste. In short, a real winner & at exactly a year old, smoking beautifully now.
nugget Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 That's great news. I have a box of OCT 06 in the humidor and only hope they are as good as you say. Never tried an 898 personally however have read many reviews and are looking forward to the experience. I generally like Partagas, so I can't wait.:-)

Without doubt Partagas has been one of the real beneficiaries of 2006 blend improvements. 2006 898V/Connie 1,2 & 3. What a magical combination :-P
smokum Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 » 2006 898V/Connie 1,2 & 3. What a magical combination :-P Have them all....have not broken into the 898v yet !!!
shrink Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 2006 898V/Connie 1,2 & 3. What a magical combination :-P These, especially the 898V, are among the best of their vitolas ever produced. Good now, they will age magnificently.
greenpimp Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 My ENE06 have been fantastic so far. Hope to hang onto some of them for awhile.
jsd Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 hmmm, never really thought about these before. Will have to keep these in mind...Thanks :-)
genevapics Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Sounds like a nice cigar. I have not had much success with the Partagas line. I have only purchased samples with little to no age. Some brothers have sent me some cigars with some serious age on them, that I plan on sampling and reviewing come July. I have read where several folks have talked/raved about the Partagas SdC line. I believe my inexperienced palate just has not caught on yet. That said, I will continue sampling this Marca in search of these wonderful treasures yea wise men speak of... ;-)
Quint Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 God you guys are killing me. There goes the college fund....Thanks for the review bassman
motownflip Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I'm definetly in. Just need to scrape some funds together.

I am gonna try to wait it out as long as i can before cracking open my 898v box. ...that or buy another.:-D Pete
Ginseng Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Thanks, Bass. Looks like I'll have to give these another spin. The two coffins of from JUL05 I bought last year were unremarkable. Tight draws and a muted, muddled flavor. Wilkey

TWo completely different cigars.
