I agree with the el presidente, the American government should indeed position itself as a friend of the Cuban public. Once the door has been opened, Americans will finally be able to get a cost free glimpse at this amazing culture, by cost free I mean, there being no risk of the cigars being confiscated and destroyed (or smoked) I hope one day in the near future the American government eases of on its Anti-CUBA campaign.

Yes but I am German and Italian, I live in New Zealand as a permenant citizen but I live in France for business purposes, and my use of facist was a metophor referring soley to censorship and a few other of Bushes policies, I meant no offence.

Dont get me wrong I love America I go there every year, I dont consider Bush a facist, I just used the term too loosely, I do consider him defficent in something, most probably a brain, you are losing thousands of me right now, you can't tell me your latest speight of combat is another anti facist holy war, don't get me wrong three family members are in German and New Zealand special forces, but I don't support a war which causes the death of thousands for the sake of saving a middle eastern country from itself, and we know what it's really about. And calling me mentally defficent, that's quite harsh considering, if Hitlers forces weren't so concentrated in Africa and Inland defence at that time you could be singing The German national anthem right now Colt. Please don't use anything like that against me again, we know you helped us out and it does hurt to be reminded of the dark history that once befell our beautiful country.

» And i will say no other country (USA ) in the world has sacraficed more

Russia sacrificed 56 million people fighting Stalin and Hitlers regimes. USA is an amazing country, but by no means come to the conlusion you prevented Hitler's spreading through the world, Europe was fighting the Nazi party 3 years before American involvement.

Cam, I think you are confusing one of my replies with someone else's.......

I never brought up WWII, or the current conflict either. My discussion with you

was based on the term fascist, which you just admitted to using loosely.

But you also admit that you don't seriuosly consider Bush a fascist, so my

"mentally deficient" comment does not apply (re-read that section if you care to)

I usually try to word my posts carefully, with the thought that I'm having a

conversation - no different than if we were knocking a few back at the pub.

This thread, for me at least, is no different.

James Bond a little history

If it was not for America during WWII setting up a second front Europe would all be speaking German period!!!!

The Brits were in trouble and were going to lose and the Russians had there problems until Germany had to devert troops to fight the American machine storming out of Africa to Sicily up into northern Italy.

Nice piece of historic revisionism James.

Western Europe was on its knees both militarily and financially. They held no air, land or naval superiority outside of North Africa where they were holding there own....just. The Russians saved an onslaught of Western Europe by more than holding their own and splitting German resources. The US turned the tide. The French by in large Collaborated.

No hard feelings anyone, politics is a touchy subject,

Jimmy there's nothing wrong with my info, I know what you are saying however, yes the USA did sacrifice a great many men for the cause of freedom, but so did many other nations, I believe America never once suffered a single attack on its mainland proper, even the balloons sent by the Japanese failed to detonate on target or time. While some of Europe is still trying to overcome conflicts which have arisen from sacrifices which were made during the second world war.

Cam,

The Japanese took Singapore....the British surrendered. The Prime Minister of Australia telephoned Churchill requesting the immediate repatriation of troops from Europe back to the Australian mainland for defence against the impending Japanese invasion. Churchill refused.

If the Japanese had not bombed Pearl Harbour then we would be speaking Japanes today down under which would be ashame because I like pronouncing my L's.

So on my count, the US saved Europe and the Asia Pacific. In terms of historical milestones achieved by one nation...not too shabby.

Time however fades memories. It was never that serious....you came into the war late....never sufferred a mainland attack...

When I hear this verbage I often wonder why the US doesn't say....go F**K yourselves. Fight your own fricken wars. In trouble....call the UN, leave your number and after a year see what response you get. Remember how effective they were in Kosovo? Who the **** did they have to call?....the Europeans couldn't even sort out a small mess in their own backyard. Worse...Dutch UN troops refused to put themselves in danger to protect a populace and the result was the slaughter of locals.

Someone once asked me what was the definition of a "mate".

....a mate is the person who walks in the door when all of your friends just walked out.

The embargo may never end, people that produce nc cigars have alot to loose by ending it.Do you think people would go to their local shop and pick up a 20-30 dollar Opus X when there are cuban cigars on the shelf below? Also would you not be concered with the quality dropping with the growig demand. It is more likely that the U.S gov.will let citizens travel there before you would see cuban cigars on U.S selfs.

Posted

Cuban cigars were the top selling cigars before the embargo in the USA.

So it would make no differance other countries would get less.

Also i think the quality will get even better with American money flowing in to Cuba.

As far as the non Cuban companies they are here because of the embargo.

Non Cubans most of them are over priced poo poo and they are taking advantage of this Embargo that the USA put in place.

I do agree but I still have concerns about quality, there would devinitly be high demand for them.Any way lets just cross that

bridge when we get to it..

Im sure habanos SA will not let quality slip too much, Ive encountered problems already with Partagas cigars, and as of late alot of cuban cigars do find their way into US shops, just ask and usually theyll bang a box out from under the counter.
