Yesterday morning I smoked my first RA Estupendo (Thanks Rob & Lisa!) and followed in the afternoon with the RA Eminencia. Two wonderful cigars, but with totally different flavor profiles.

The Estupendo was surprisingly accessable, with medium body & flavors full of spices. On the other hand, the Eminensia was stronger, rather tannic with earthy flavors. Interesting that the younger cigar seems ready to go while the older, though excellent, really needs more time.

The Eminencias were not available in the Asia/Pacific market..Switzerland was it? or Germany?

Yesterday morning I smoked my first RA Estupendo.

Rub it in, Steve-a-rino, rub it in. Some of us plebians can't afford such princely cigars. ;-) I'll just have to settle for the new 50 cab of Partagas lonsdales I got in today.

Nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah!

P.S. I've heard that the Estupendos are very, very good.

Eminencias were Swiss regional. Shrink, you can't go wrong with a cab of Party Lonsdales either.

I think both of these regional release are fine but I think I like the RASS and the RAG better.

Well I just tried my first Estupendo out of my cab #90/260, and I have to say that I was extremely disappointed. It was so tightly wrapped that I couldn't get any smoke through it. I tried for nearly 20 minutes to loosen it up, including using the draw poker, but it was no use. I had a feeling it was going to be unsmokable about 2 months ago when I removed it from the cab and put it in my drier humidor (62% humidity) bacause it was as hard as a baseball bat. There are at least another 4 or 5 that feel just as hard (just going through the top 1/3 of the cab), and I get the feeling that I am in for a world of dissapointmet with this cab. I will revisit again in a few weeks.

That doesn't sound good at all. After reading your post, I went and checked the stick

I'd taken from the box and put in a desktop. It was also hard, but not heavy.

However, the foot showed a very tight roll, with a distinct, tight, almost plug-like

center.

I won't be trying this one for some time, so we'll see.

That's why I don't think it's a hard and fast rule that putting cigars into a drier humidity will always loosen up the draw. I think there is a balance point in terms of humidity such that the draw is optimal. Too dry with a tightly rolled cigar and you're likely to get a tighter cigar with the contraction of tobacco when it dries. Similarly, when too moist, the expansion of the leaves will close up the remaining space for the air flow. Obviously an overfilled cigar will never draw "well," but I think some of the "fixes" that people suggest might make things worse.

YIKES!! Sorry to hear that. I guess the ol' "draw machine" was shut-down that week. For the price we pay for rolled pieces of tobacco, you'd think this "obstacle" could be overcome--permanently.

I had one that was hard as a brick and pitched it out. Unsmokeable.:crying:

» I only got three of these....hopefully I won't have any drawing issues.

I'm with you log. I got 10, but won't be touching them for a few years at the earliest. I will say the Eminensias I smoked (I have 2 left) were outstanding!
