Ive come very close to splurging on a Rolex quite a few times but havent pulled the trigger yet!  Once i was in Switzerland and i brought money to buy a Rolex, but i surprisingly the prices were so much higher than the price of the same watch in the US that i held out.  Then i got over it, then I want one again ect ect 😅

Switzerland is rarely a deal on a watch. You may have a better selection going to their hallmark boutiques. I think Rolex has a factory boutique in Geneva now.

Simply the universe telling you to stop wasting time looking at Rolex and just go for AP.

Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph / 43 MM

The Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph combines a 43mm stainless steel case that is water-resistant to 100 meters with a clean steel bezel and black ceramic crown and pushers. Inspired by Habanos cigars, this timepiece features a smoked bronze Méga Tapisserie dial whose darkened edges extend to the black inner bezel, where a tachymeter scale for measuring distances is printed in white.

Nice. I have a fairly chunky wrist and hardly ever wear my offshore (26471SR Bucherer) because Im a little over the bulky vibe nowadays, but doubt I’d ever consider selling.

They’re such beautifully made pieces and have a real presence.

@Elpresidente not a lot of AP really capture my attention, but this is a stunner. I am sure it’s beastly on the wrist though. Saw a neurologist few weeks back with a Royal Oak Offshore in the 43MM size and it looked like a brick on his wrist and he was a fairly big dude.

Since I broke my casual watch face recently I am thinking about trading in my dress watch, that I don't wear anymore since I retired from corporate, for another everyday watch. Does anyone have any recommendations for places in the states to trade-in or sell a nice watch?

You can sell on Chrono24 or give Facebook Marketplace a go. Trade in to Tourneau, but you won't get much.

H. Moser & Cie. x Studio Underd0g Passion Fruit Watches

H. Moser is known for its minimalist designs; Studio Underd0g for its fun, colorful takes on classics. Now they've teamed up on a pair of watches inspired by the bold colors of the passion fruit. Moser's contribution, the Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Passion Fruit, is powered by a manually wound in-house movement, powering a big date display, a month indicator on a central hand, seconds dial at six o'clock, a power reserve indicator at nine o'clock, and a leap year indicator on the movement side. Its two-tone dial combines sunburst purple lacquer with a hammered Maracuja fumé grand feu enamel with a yellow gold base. Studio Underd0g's 03Series Passi0n Fruit, meanwhile, is powered by a Sellita SW510 M chronograph movement, with a Royal Purple radial brushed lower dial and Coarse Dégradé Amber upper dial, a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, and a running seconds subdial at 9 o'clock. The two watches are available only as a set and are limited to 100 examples each.

Moser is now the official time piece supplier for Alpine F1. They are the 2nd team to have two watch manufacturers on their car.

What is the situation right now in the Western World regarding luxury watches? Here in Asia they're beginning to go backwards as sales tumble to record lows and all resellers got flooded with stocks they cannot move. Now we can get Swiss watches from resellers at only slightly above RRP and most AD started to treat potential customers better and have a more realistic waiting list. I really hope this economic slowdown will persist for a while so things can get back to a slight normalcy, things have been insane for the past 4 years. Wondering also when the cigar market will feel the hit and start getting more realistic in price, so far no indication of this. Therefore, the cigar smoker is wealthier than Swiss watch buyer? 🤭

Well, unlike watches, cigars are constantly disappearing. So there's that...

Spot on. Buy a nice watch, guitar, or car you can keep/use it for a lifetime. Use a cigar for it's intended purpose once......and it's gone.

New to me Seiko 6139-7012. Made in March 1971 and still keeps great time. Been picking up quite a few of variations on this movement over the past year. Slowly working my way to having the guts (and proper tools) to start tearing them all the way down, cleaning and fixing them. Still nibbling around the fixing angle but once winter hits I’ll be taking a few movements apart. For now though been picking quite a few variants up via a Japanese forwarding agent from Japanese websites. The metal bands from Japan in the 70’s are a ton of fun as well.

I've been crying for a week since my band gave way while grilling and the face landed perfectly on the patio.

So after months of searching, I was able to find a replacement crystal for my watch, in Saudi Arabia of all places! Good as new.

What does the "4" indicate between the four and five? Attractive watch!

It’s the Leap Year indicator of the perpetual calendar. The red 4 means that we’re in a leap year. Next year it’ll change to 1 and cycle through 2, and 3 in subsequent years.

Yup. If it’s a day or two then I just wind it forward but else there are pushers for each function to adjust them.
