A guy worth several hundred million caring what PP thinks? C'mon man😃 As the saying goes; it's just a watch.

You guys pals? How do you know what he’s got in the bank? Things aren’t always what you see man. I’m not saying I know either, but I can tell you someone with several hundred million doesn’t need to sell their watches.

Dream watch? pretty close. ;)  Yours?

Patek 5970 platinum/black and I would swap it to a dark brown strap. Not that I have thought much about such a hypothetical.

Seiko Brings Back Its Legendary ‘Pogue’ Space Watch

Released in honor of said watch, the solar-powered Seiko SSC947 Speedtimer "Pogue" 1969 Re-Interpretation, named after the astronaut who wore it, Colonel William "Bill" Pogue, most parts components remain faithful to the original, with minimal updates for the modern market. With yellowy sunray dial, a blue and red outer tachymeter scale bezel, black triple-register subdial display (24-hour indicator, 60-minute totalizer, and a seconds counter), a date window at 4:30, a curved sapphire crystal, hairline brushing on the stainless case, smooth polishing on the multi-link stainless steel bracelet, it's quite a visual spectacle, and a rare feat of successful self-referential homage

Not a fan. To me that looks like a cheap and nasty watch. To much going on. Colour etc...yuck!

The original watch was a Seiko 5 SPORTS Speed-Timer (caliber 6139), the first automatic chronograph in the world. Colonel WIlliam Pogue wore the Seiko on his left wrist and the official NASA watch (Omega Speedmaster) on his right (see below).

Very cool. Almost certainly too big and heavy for me, sadly.

Yeah, sure…. That doesn’t mean a thing, Google is only going to tell you what he’s made over the last few decades. It doesn’t factor spending/stupidity/divorce and assumes he’s smart enough to be responsible. Not to mention net worth does not equal liquidity. Show me some real evidence, I can find proof Elvis is still alive and the world is flat on Google 🤣

One of the most beautiful classic watches ever made? Possibly. I'm also a fan of other classic watches. I came across one of these Leonidas (1950s ca) in the wild, and although it was a fraction of the cost of a Patek, it wasn't the right time. Gorgeous piece with clean lines.

I am a big fan of the movement in the Pogue watch, Seiko 6139. Arguably the first automatic chronograph without a winding option. Beautiful movement on the inside. I have a few 😳 and some long term projects waiting for me to finish tool acquisition to start to do my own full clean/overhauls.
Lots of great watch dials in addition to the Pogue. Recently saw the prices spike on the Japanese websites and this might explain the resurgence. Lots of fake Pogue dials out there so get a bit up to speed if you are looking for one - but they can be found for not particularly big money, especially for the watch world. Lotta bang for the buck.
Wearing a Japanese Military Variant today as a matter of fact.

And here is a list of all of the 6139 watches with some photos. Some solid classics in this bunch fwiw.

Long live the late 69’s/early 70’s aesthetic.

Dropped my name and number, two weeks later they called...come collect your watch at any time. Smooth purchase and outstanding customer service.

No down payment and waiting for months, no need to check your name first (they even asked for ID number), have you bought from us before? (Yes, still means nothing) you need to build a relationship with us (how can I build a relationship with you, if you aren’t selling the watch I want). The salesman points at unwanted watches that have been sitting for a long time, I guess you know who’s AD I’m talking about. I gave up eventually. I ain’t calling everyday.

Beautiful watch. Santos XL?  Santos was on the list for my wife's 50th watch. The AD experience is going to change big time at Rolex over the next decade. Now that they are in the retail new and pre-owned watches sales via Boucherer / Tourneau, Rolex can curate the buying experience. It'll take time to build the network and drop AD's that provided a lousy buying experience.

I don't blame AD's for playing favorites. At the same time there are new "up and comer's" who'll be their favorites if you gave them an opportunity. Even if they buy one or two watches ever, why should they be treated like chopped liver?

As I told my rude Rolex AD - "It seems your focused on collectors and repeat buyers. Hard to be either when you refuse to sell someone their first watch."

Yes, Santos de Cartier ADLC (Ref. WSSA0039), they have great Quartz models for women. got a Tank for my wife a few years ago from TIVOL in Kansas. iconic piece.

The lady at Rolex told me we play a fair game (First come, first served, we go by a list) I didn't buy it, weeks later an older man at the shop told me directly, you'll have to be VVIP. at least he was honest. Their whole business practice is shady and seems unsustainable (tin foil hat moment, they sell to flippers!), However those 'VVIP' will eventually vanish and Rolex needs new customers and buyers.

My wife needs at least 39mm, she wanted it to be easy to read.

It's not as easy as selling to flippers right from the AD. Rolex knows who sold the watch and if too many from a particular AD are showing up, they may not get the stock they want. My cousin and I were going to buy a couple of Rolex at the local Biel dealer and they said they don't sell the more sought after ones to non-locals which he is local. They knew they'd be flipped vs someone who wants just to own it.

We moved on to other things and forgot on the watches. I barely wear them any longer. That being said, I really like this new Omega/Swatch they just released:
