Colt45
Bought some singles last year - no codes. Nice construction - felt right in the hand. Deep tan in color, with a slight "barber pole effect" where parts of the wrapper were slightly darker than the rest. Excellent draw with tons of smoke. Very good burn. Taste-wise, this one started out tasting of dried milk chocolate and honey. But not sweet - as if the honey had been cooked, and most of the sweetness removed. As a matter of fact, overall this cigar tasted like a semi-sweet chocolate torte, with honey used as a sweetener. The first half was rather light in body, very smooth, with little or no spice characteristics. At the halfway point, it became a bit more earthy, and definately fuller in body, though the "chocolate torte ' remaind the core flavor. There were hints of anise that came and went throughout. Overall, a very, very nice cigar. 92 points.
JMH
One of my favourites. Nice review. I find them to have a sweetness kind of like you described, very rustic and earthy, like raw sugar. They can be quite full bodied as well.

cigardawg
Great review! Thanks. This is a funny one for me. I really like the VR Unicos. I have smoked several and never had a bad one. However, they've never made my "must buy a box list" and I just don't reach for them THAT often. Kind of funny given how good they are. Hmmmmmm. Mel
Hello Colt, I have some of these from different years and prefer the younger stuff as it is more bright with flavors. Do you like the DA's?
Colt45
Mel, I've not tried the Don Alejandro yet. I have one - maybe I'll give it a shot this weekend. You've all pegged the flavors of this one very well. Perhaps I should stick to cigar related posts.......
