Bolivar Immensas

Colt45

Singles, no codes

Construction: Very good - firm, but not too heavy.

Wrapper: Medium colorado. smooth, with a nice sheen - very nice overall.

Draw: Perfect - firm, but consistent and deliberate.

Taste: Started with salty spice and honey sweetness. Hints of supple leather and

mocha. Light clean tobacco is a core element.

At this point, on the light side of medium in body.

At the halfway mark, supple leather becomes more dominant, but the sweetness

and salty spice remain underlying. A couple of draws bring stewed fruit and

bitter chocolate. Becomes fully medium in body.

With a third remaining, it became quite herbal, and somewhat bitter, though not

harsh. I laid it down at this point.

Overall, an absolutely fantastic cigar, and a fantastic size.

It drops down to a 92 due to the finish.

One of the most inconsistant cigars I've smoked. I've had them ranging from bland to full flavored. Haven't bought an in a while because I never know which version will show up.

Nice review Ross

I suspect the singles have some age on them only because they are not cigars which fly off the shelves.

I liken them very much to the La Gloria Cubana Tainos in that they are a cigar which falls apart on the back third with a tardy, dirty, bitter finish. Up to that point you would want to buy box fulls.

I would love to try a 2006 version of these and see how they perform in a taste test. If I can locate a box of 06 I will shoot you one through to try and we can do side by side tastings.

Great review!:ok:

I really enjoy the Bolivar Inmensas, but I do consider it a "soft" bolivar. The basic profile is there, but it is quite delicate and refined. At least this is true in an aged (9 years) specimen. The '97s that I am currently smoking from are very nice.

I have a box of '05s that I have yet to break. For a couple of reasons...I think the '97s have more or less peaked and I am smoking them now. The other is that I typically do not like young bolivars. I may have to try one just to get a baseline.

Thanks for the review on a cigar that most do not hear much about.

To be honest, the only Bolivar Inmensas that I have smoked have been 97's and I loved the cigar. It does display the rich earth and sweet Bolivar spice and the depth of complexity in my opinion make it a sought after cigar. I have no clue what newer production would bring to the table, it could be interesting.

Bassman, this was my first sample of this cigar, so I can't comment on the

consistency aspect, but I do hope my next is as good - or better!

The rest of you guys have summed it all up perfectly - thanks for the input.

I have one more to try, but can this one on the box list.
