aes8 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Damn, back to the drawing board. But you should really buy PCC
genevapics Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 They acknowledge the LE program is sinking. Rob, could you expand on this? Sounds like the sales' numbers are down, but why? Too many releases? Too many boxes per release? Exactly what seems to be the problem? Believe it or not, Distributors don't give a rats. Are we to assume that as long as sales are increasing the Distributors don't care type of cigars are sold?
El Presidente Posted April 11, 2011 Author Posted April 11, 2011 Rob, could you expand on this? Sounds like the sales' numbers are down, but why? Too many releases? Too many boxes per release? Exactly what seems to be the problem?Lack of exitement for LE releases since around 2006. There have been some good releases but also plenty of average ones and all with a high price tag. People question (rightfully) the "LE" nature of them as well as the volumes were high and they were readily avalable up to 2 years post release. Having said all that, I am looking forwad to this years releases. If they get the selection right, the quality right and they sell out within 6 months then the sex appeal is back. Are we to assume that as long as sales are increasing the Distributors don't care type of cigars are sold? They are business people with budgets and targets. If a new release is a stunning seller then they are happy. There aren't too many romantics in the trade.
Van55 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Please note, if you haven't, that this thread was original posted in 2006 and only recently revived. In my opinion, the fight to save narrow gauge Cuban cigars is long-since over, and we have lost. As Rob notes, this is a business in which money talks and romantic notions of what "connoisseurs" love walk.
Holysmokes Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 This was a very interesting read. I am just recently getting into smaller gauge cigars (8-9-8, Des Dieux, Fundadores) I have to admit I was more attracted to the fatter gauge, they simply felt great in my hands and seemed to be "bigger" in taste, which is clearly wrong. I am slowly learning the incredible complexities of small gauge vintage cigars... AH! I love this hobby.

CoryOllis Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 I guess we'll have to show them buy buying more of them.... I'm doing my part! Dalias, reyes, minutos, and coronitas are always in my rotation.
