I know I'm slackin'...as soon as this head cold moves on I will get my review in..SORRY it didn't happen before it was revealed. I'll try to keep it unbiased

I am astonished. I love the Bolivar line and would never have associated that cigar with same. The 06's seem to be coming around as a remarkable year.

It was a very good young cigar, but I agree. I have smoked a fair amount of Bolivars and a bunch of RC's, and that cigar had a different profile. Almost no earthiness, to me anyway.

Damn tasty though.

I would of bet a few cabs of PLPCs that the Boli RC wasnt it. I should of known for I have a box of the 06 RCs, and have had 3 of them so far. Decided to stay away from them for a while.

I also tasted a differant flavor profile

OK I finally got my review done, but it's been a long day so I'm off to bed. My wife is very kind though and she said she would type it up for me tomorrow while Im at work.

4 ½ out of 5

When it first arrived, it looked kind of dry, but after a couple of weeks in my humidor it was starting to get a nice oily sheen on it. It had one prominent vein in the wrapper with 3 noticeable under it. I smoked the first inch on my way home from work, a celebration cigar for the win over Penn State. Upon light up it was loaded with spice. Immediately my mind went to the Partagas line. The aroma had plenty of honey fragrance. There was a faint taste of honey, but that could have been affected since I had my windows up. This lasted even as I went downstairs to enjoy the rest. About halfway through I did a little purge and got a glass of water. The spice continues and continues. I believe some vanilla bean taste was noted, but wait the honey taste/aroma has not left.

By the ¾ mark I believe some of the youth starts to show. The honey aroma is still there but the taste is not. There is a faint taste of “soap” possibly ammonia? I tried another purge with possible an inch and a half left. This didn’t affect the taste any. The aroma grew sweeter over the last inch. It started to burn hot, but I still couldn’t set it down. There was still a pleasant taste there as the “soapy” taste had now faded away. I was like a Neanderthal and took it till it made my lips hot. The overall burn was fantastic, no relighting, hardly ever went crooked and if it did, it wasn’t by much. The ash was usually dark to medium gray with a few spots of black and white occasionally.

Overall, I was very impressed. I wish I didn’t already know what this cigar was, but my honest guess would have been: late ’04, early ’05 H. Upmann conn #1. I’ve never had one of these, but an aged Mag 46 from Tampa had very similar qualities. The only mistake I made was not measuring the length and just assuming that it was 5” long. That would have nixed my guess right there, but I still wouldn't have guessed Bolivar.

Thanks for the opportunity Rob/Lisa. Sorry it took so long, but I didn’t see any sense in trying to enjoy this with a head cold. Next time I’ll be on time. ;-)

P.S. I will own a box of these. What was the box code?
