Ken Gargett Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 guys, quite a few of us have helped rob put his kid's through school - in my case, i think i have dibs on a front seat at their uni graduation - partly by purchasing these older cigars. thought it would be interesting to see how people are finding them. i got a box of the hoyo DC's and am about to smoke the first one - during the wallabies against the handbag set. i'll report later or tomorrow. anyone else into theirs yet?

Ken Gargett Posted July 8, 2006 Author Posted July 8, 2006 i really hate egomanical short south africans. the 30 blokes on the field are nothere to showcase your inadequacies, jonathan. nearly as bad as clive norling. not that that was our only problem. loved the cigar. will revert.
Professor Twain Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 I bit on the 03 SC La Puntas and the 00 Boli Tubo #3, and have had one from each box. I'm pleased with both but will wait on doing a full review until I have smoked a larger sample. I also got some Vegueros from 01, waiting to dive into those. It is great to be able to purchase aged cigars, and I'm grateful that Rob offers these by the stick as well. Note, Lisa will also provide box codes when you get singles so that you can keep track of what you are trying.
habanohal Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 I got the the HDM Epic #2 2000. A great cigar. The age has mellowed it and balanced all the flavors. Though I tend to find myself likeing the more recent production cigars. The stronger fresh, in your face, kind of flavor. But they are good!!

I used to like the stronger, in your face fresh cigar but I now find myself enjoying the complex, balanced flavors of a well aged habano. I ordered a box of 01 CoRos and a box of 01 PSD 4's. Although I am not very good at reviews, so I won't put you folks through the pain, both of these cigars are now excellent smokes. I have only had one out of each box, going to smoke another out of each box today, but they were both most enjoyable. It is great that Pacific has a vintage sellection for their dealers. Thanks for sharing the love Rob and Lisa.:-)

Got a cab of '02 Party Coronas - AWESOME! That about sums up how I am finding them.
Ken Gargett Posted July 9, 2006 Author Posted July 9, 2006 Really enjoyed this. Mild subtle flavours, a lovely creamy note. Some choc, hazelnut and dark berry notes. Quite sweet. A medium to slow burn which was consistent right through, though a couple of small clogs in the 2nd half, not enough to condemn the thing. Flavours really built up and quite rich and starting to become quite powerful by the end. Very worthwhile and exhibits the advantages of some age. 91-92.
