Remember my Saturday Evening Thread title Good to be Alive ?

Blue sky Sunday afternoon in Brisbane town. 26 degrees celsius.

Half way through a bottle of Balmoral Syrah and a Partagas Serie De Connoisseur No 1.

Fished with my eldest son this morning from the Fingal Rocks for a nice catch of bream.

Took the family to lunch at a great litle Yum Cha restaurant. bla bla bla.

Well I just read an e-mail my 12year old son has written to his best mate David.

"Dad and I went fishing on Saturday. I caught three nice bream off Fingal rock's!!!! Dad caught nothing. He is getting worse. He is getting old but at least he didn't bog the 4 Wheel Drive this time :rotfl:

I felt sorry for him and even let him use my fishing rod but he was hopeless."

I will save you from the worst parts. I taught this kid everything he knows.....I can see a fish off this weekend

Are you sure he hasn't had a little coaching from a certain wine critic? Just replace "Dad" with "Rob" and I'm sure you'd be able to sign it KBG.

Rob, this is hysterical!

I showed this to my wife. Thanks for giving us both a good laugh at your expense.

This definitely sounds like something one of my kids would say, or have said, so I can certainly sympathize.

Luckily, I'm still victorious in any game or sport where old age and treachery count for something.

Take your son out for a paint ball fight, then see what he has to say!

Nice Story Rob just shows perspective is everything.

Reminds me of a fishing trip with my cousins boy. He was told by some other cousins that I was the best fisherman that they had ever been with and that if he went with me he was in for a treat. I had taken the older boys out on the lake for Strippers and we did real well catching four or five over fifteen pounds.

When the little tike came to town the weather was rough and windy and the lake was not an option. I decided to take him to a friends pond for trout. When we got there they little guy was thrilled to se all the fish. He caught one on the first cast and the second and third and so on. After about a dozen fish on a dozen cast he reale3d in without a fish. He was disapointed. I then told him we should move over to the other pond and try again. He finally tired and we left.

When we got back to the house he exploded from the truck and yelled to his mother that Mel had the best fishing hole in the whole wide world! I never did tell him that those ponds belonged to a friend that owned a comercial trout fishery.;-)

Shooting ducks in a barrel is fine with kids.

My son is 17. I don't WANT to know what he thinks right about now!

Been to Brisbane, Melbourne, Cairns and Sydney. Loved all 4 ports. I went to some zoo in Brisbane and got my picture taken holding a koala and feeding kangaroos.

I freakin' LOVE Australia!

That story reminds me when my son was born. A mate said, as we looked down at the infant, "well, there's your replacement. You'll try to teach him all you know... he has your genes, and with any luck as you fade from this world, he'll being doing better than you ... yep, there's your replacement."

Rob, gettin old's a *****. Try to catch something for us older guys, alright. lol!

Rob,

Do I ask the Question of Why your reading your Son's emails???

Don't feel so bad, my father is the same, I was convinced as a kid that he had some beacon on the bottom of the boat scaring the fish away, because every time I got in the boat I caught nothing, As soon as I hopped into his mates boat I always hooked a Bass, you do the math.

Great stuff, Rob. Let's hope he's not right. You know, teenagers know everything!

NANNY NET!!!!

God I am glad they were not around when I was a kid, how on earth would I have spent my time.

You know that is just going to be extra motivation for him to learn how to break it...
