habanohal
I havent had any luck with many of them. Cohiba's have been very blah! Monte 2's have been awful, HDM Petite Robustos just down right awful. Trinidad Colonials have been only fair. So far the only cigars that have been good from the cardboard boxes have been Cuabas. I do like the 5 packs that make up a box for storage purposes, but they have never en=ven came close to the same that I have in cabs or boxes. Any1 else?? korryp
I don't like them but in those special cases where I don't want to spring for a full box or the price is WAY up there. They work.
El Presidente
Cardboard boxes are a crapshoot. 1 in 2 are of dubious quality in that of say 5 cigars, 3 will be good and 2 have construction issues. Your vendor has to put in the extra yards when cardboard boxes are ordered.
sas
I thought it was just my inexperience with Cohiba or they were fake. I was not impressed at all. By the way habanohal I am about a half hour from you.

dysfunctional
No problems here...had some good siglo II's and some others before.. but I usually take them out of the box and place in the Humi for a few weeks before smoking them....though when I travel I dont do that. There are some taste differences..... but minor....

Havana Joe
I also haven't dealt with any cardboard packaging. Now that I hear all this, I'm a bit leery of buying any 5 backs. :-|
harwellplant
i buy a number of threes and fives, mainly for travel and gifting. the edmundos have been good in the cardboard, as have the coros. thank you rob for going that extra mile.
SmokinLightning
I've bought several 3 packs of Siglo VI that were great, but the cedar lined tubes probably negated any possible ill effects of the packaging.

I have not noticed any distinguishable difference in the cardboard packaged cigars vs. dress box/cabinet cigars. My Trinidad Fundadores, HdM Petite Robustos and Monecristo Edmundos are all of exceptional qulity, albeit a bit young.
SuperT
I have limited exposure to cardboard boxed cigars. I bought a 15 pack of Cosacos that were cardboard boxed that were exceptional. I also got a few 5 packs of Piedras that were in cardboard boxes - extras from a vendor. They sucked, but then again they were Piedras. I'm letting them sit to see if they turn around. Well Armed
Every cardboard pack I have ever had has been steller. The HdM Epi #2's I had were Off Da Hook! Monty 2's were wicked sweet. Fundys were bangin'. You guys are getting robbed.

I've never had one out of the cardboard that didn't taste like I was smoking the box.:-| I learned to strip them out of the box and put them in a humi for a few months. Loki
I agree total crapshoot. The only sticks even worth mentioning are some 03 HDM DCs in the 5 box by 3 stick format. My experience with most 3 and 5 packs picked up at airport shops has been bad. I stay away from them now.
