Hi Folks,

Probably this question has been asked before but couldn't find the thread on this topic.

I'm planning a quick holiday to Perth and wanted to pack some cigars with me. I'm trying to figure out how to bring my lighter & cutter.

The last time I took a flight, my lighter and puncher went missing from my luggage. I believe it was confiscated, but was never told explicitly.

Do you guys know if airlines are still sticky with cigar lighters?

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Haz :-D

I leave the lighter at home, and pick up a cheapie at my destination.

I pack my cutter(s) in my check in bag, usually in an outer pocket that's

easily accessible, and haven't had any problems.

if you re going to travel in the USA, there are no lighters allowed after security checkpoint, and you are only allowed 2 packs of matched.

I have been traveling since last year with my torch and Xikar multitool.

I place the lighter in the original packing it came in. I discharge the lighter of all butane. I also carry my xikar multitool in my toiletry bag along with my razor and other toiletry items. Im 6-6 of always making to and from my destination with all my accessories. :-D

I also take aboard my 18 count otterbox I always take this item as a carry on.

When I travel out of Singapore, the lighter and cutter are always checked in. Some custom officials are more stingent and does not even allow keys in the carry on.

No problem so far.

Always packed the Lighter and Cutter in your luggage checked in.

Ensure that if the lighter is a butane lighter to discharge all butane. Otherwise airport security might say you are carrying an explosive item. You can always pick up butane at your destination.

Alternatively, get some cedar from rob and use matches to light the cedar, then the cigar.

As for the cutters, always pack them with toiletries and you are set.

As long as you pack it in your luggage you should be OK. When I went to Aruba in September that is what I did with both my lighter and cutter and I didn't have any problems. (I didn't even empty the butane out..):lookaround:

Tell the TSA you have a cutter and lighter in the checked bags but you left your guns, knives, bombs and leathal gases at the house. Don't f--- with you your trying to be good this week.;-)

In the US, I've occaisonally put a plastic 3 cigar pocket humi in my carry on, and a cheap cutter inside it. Never been asked about anything going through the xray.

I think once I also left a bic lighter in there by mistake and it wasn't noticed, but generally I don't try to get a lighter through...

The rules vary by country.

In the U.S. cutters can probably be carried on your person these days, but butane lighters may not. Butane lighters may, however, be packed in checked luggage. On a return flight from Costa Rica last week, they were confiscating lighters found in the checked luggage.

Well, between US & Canada, there are no cutters OR lighters allowed, but you can have matches, they dont even look for that! I guess matches dont burn? I got a punch through on the way TO Canada, but lost it on the way back, I guess they dont want me to punch my smokes in the US, just in Canada?? What a bunch of nimrods. Just keep it all in your luggage & be safe.

I'm going to be flying in a couple of weeks donw to the final four in Indy, Guess I'm going to pick up a Big when I get there and put my cutter in my checked luggage. Now I've heard that Indy has a public smoking ban, so it may be a mute point.

YOu could just take a cedar box divider and pack that. You can then use strips of it to light on a candle in a cafe or bar and then light your cigar. It's a bit more creative than matches I suppose.
