» What year did the new Cohiba bands appear? And did they occur across the

» board on all vitola's?

Commenced in November 2003 with the launch of the Cohiba Siglo VI. By March 2004 all Cohiba Vitola's were being dressed with the new band.

With proper respect to our El Presidente as well as our friend Rob - I believe the new bands 1st appeared on the Cohiba Seleccion Reserva box of 30 cigars and not on the Siglo VIs. This is the box with its own built in humidification device and 5 different vitolas in 1 box (Coronas Especiales, Esplendidos, Robustos, Piramides and the special release new variety - Medias Coronas... Each cigar had the double label, the 'new gold embossed' label as well as the black & gold Reserva.

The Factory and date code I have is OSU DIC 02 which is quite a bit earlier than the 11/03 date given for the Siglo VIs above.

I have 2 boxes of the Cohiba SR from 02 with the new bands from impecable vendor. Also these were seen on some of the 2001 Pyramid ELs. I have half box of the Els left also with them.

You guys are correct. I was referring to standard production cigars.

...you believe me right?:lookaround:

Of course I believe you Rob....by the way ...is that that beautiful bridge over Sydney Harbour you were trying to sell me previously still available ? How about that Opera House there you were looking to rent me for 99 years? Is that still available? ;-) :-D

I concur Doc. I saw them in the LCDH in Montreal. The shop owner was talking them up , like I'd pay that much money (123% tax) even with the exchange rate.

But OK ---will take the Opera House after all..... :-( :-D

If Lisa was in charge you would own the Bridge and be paying off the Opera House in six easy installments :-D

Thanks for the information regarding the bands. So is it safe to say that the Cohiba Lancero singles that I recently purchased from CC are pre-2003? The only reason I ask is, I also bought the Cohiba Siglo VI's along with the Lancero's and they had different bands. I would assume the VI's are relatively young, but I wasn't sure about the Lancero's.

Thanks.

» I have never seen the new bands on the 2001 cohiba piramides.

I concur with Bro. Michael here - I would be very suspect of any Cohiba cigars with a date code prior to 4th Quarter 2002 with the 'new' bands --- and as far as them being on 2001 Cohiba Piramides ---- I have never seen such a stick either...... but then, I almost bought a Bridge in Australia - so what do I know.... ;-)

I have noticed that the older bands say "La Habana,Cuba" while the new ones just say "Habana,Cuba" Is that correct? Only reason I ask is that the Siglo 4's I have from 12/01 say "La Habana, Cuba" on them, but an Esplendido I recieved from a friend dated 11/04 has the new band and just has "Habana, Cuba" on it.
