I am new to the site and have been lurking for a couple months. I did not want to use a whole thread just to introduce myself considering the number of threads already existing for that purpose. So I will start off with a question.

Which Habanos brands smoke the best young, or should it be by vitola, or both? I am new to Habanos and am wondering what should be smoked now and what I should hold onto for a while. Thanks for any help!

Welcome!

Some of the fresh Habanos I like tend to be the smaller sizes. Try some of these though:

Bolivar Coronas Junior

RA Small Club Coronas

HDM Doble Coronas

Juan Lopez Petit Corona

RyJ Cazadores

Any smaller Cuaba (they do get sick though)

I go for the fresh cigars myself. I like the more bold in your face taste. Everything and anything under the sun so far from 04 and 05 have been awesome. I have been realizeing that alot of my boxes that are 04 or 05 have not hit a "sick" period.

RyJ Cazadores

Privateer, are you nuts? Or just trying to reduce the congestion on this board by killing off some newbies? Maybe you consider any Cazadore under the age of 18 "young", since they are not old enough to vote...

My favorite "freshies" (don't you just love that term!!!!) :

PSD4

Mag46

HdM Epi 1

Boli CJ or PC

I would go with either a RASCC, Mag46 or RyJ Beli.

Montecristo #5. Nice chocolate/mocha flavors. A good 30-40 minute smoke. A wonderful right off the truck. I believe the box I have are from Nov 05. And price is right.

Welcome.

I enjoy very few Habanos fresh. If I had to choose a few that I could/would smoke fresh, I would say...

RASCC

PSD4

ERDM CS

All are better with age on them, but they are smokable fresh.

Oh yeah sorry, forgot the disclaimer :-D

Cazadores are great young only if you have a leather palate and a masochistic tendency. No seriously, I think these cigars have their own charm when young...like Jose Piedras. They are rustic and strong, and some veterans seem to value that without wanting to alter the fact.

Still, you're right shrink....there are saner people to listen to than me :-)

Now keep in mind I have never smoked anything with much age on it but I love Monte Edmundos, PSD4's and BBF's right out the box.

Just smoked a Nov 05 BBF, and it was very good

I like young cigars and aged ones. One is not always better than another, just different. If you look at the Min Ron NEE book one could get the impression that no cigar should be smoked before 3-20 years of maturartion. Just for an the sake of discussion another question could be posed here.

What cigar is bad when young? I have not had any. They may go through a sick or flat period and then turn around again but were never bad ,just not at thier best.

I do like young:

RASS

Boli PC

PSD4

the whole siglo series by Cohiba.

I would say, and many are mentioned above, that the majority of the PC's and TPC's smoke well with little age, or atleast that has been my experience. IMO, they also get better with 3-5 years age.
