I believe that The First Lady can be of assistance to you on the MRN. Send her an email and ask.

I can't tell where you are from. If you are in the U.S.A. you can contact the distributor here at [email protected]. Last report was that he had some left for direct sales to U.S. customers. I am not sure of the price.

Sorry Van55

I'm from Sweden, I forgot to mention that. I'll see what the Queen of this Dominion (Lisa) has to say - maybe I can get a copy from her.

Havana Joe:

I have a copy that I picked up from El Prez. This book is a thing of beauty. Every cigar manufactured since the Revolution is discussed. Every cigar up to and including 2001 I believe.

He gives a brief discussion about each manufacturer, it's significance/history and gives pictures of each cigar manufactured by this manufacturer. It is simply an incredible book. This is not really something that you would sit down and read cover to cover, although you could do so. It's more a reference piece; something that you pick up and look at when you have a question regarding a vitola or marca.

Min Ron Nee (a pseudonym) provides tasting notes on every single cigar (a few he does not review because according to him: One should never smoke cigars directly from the factory). If you want to learn about the different cigars that have been produced since the revolution, then this book is a must. Again, this is a reference guide, not something to curl up to and read for a few hours... although I have done this myself. :rotfl:

If cost is not a problem, I would suggest picking this book up. The First Lady would know more about the cost of the book.

If you're in Stockholm, then you can go to Brobergs at the Stureplan Gallerien and they have a copy on their shelves. The price however, is outrageously expensive (I think it was 2000 SEK). Better to just send Lisa an email and see what the first lady can do for you.

Thank you for the suggestion. However, I also think that price is demasiado. I have mailed Lisa and hopefully she can sell one at a better price. BTW, I'm not often in Stockholm, maybe once or twice a year, and I have never visited Broberg's there. I have been to their Gothenburg shop though, where I bought some singles.

May I ask how you came to be so aquainted with Stockholm? It is a beautiful city and I appreciate it more for every visit.

I know this is an old thread, but I just got a copy of the Encyclopaedia from a local shop last week. They had a 1/2 dozen or so in stock, and yes, that many, and the actual verified book, still wrapped in plastic. Retail price was $250 Canadian. Yes, quite the ouch, but impossible to find anymore.

An amazing reference material.

I tried getting a copy of this book a couple of months back, was told that there were issues from the distributor side. Not sure if they will be printing more...I thought I read on a post on here a while back that there is a new edition being made.

They are out of print.

They will not be reprinted.

A second edition is being worked on, but even the Author can not give a final date.

Good to know that a second edition is in the works. I suppose your website will serve as my MRN in the meantime, Trevor! (and likely continue to do so, since I can access it from my cell phone, where a copy of MRN would be a little unwieldy to bring with me everywhere :o )

The MNR is published in HKG and I believe the latest edition (2nd?) was ready in 2009 or 2010.

I found mine in Cuba - LCDH Hotel Nacional but the lady put the spanish version in the bag... So I bought a second one, english version in a Cigar Shop in HKG.

I'm sure some guy on the forum can help, especially one located in Shanghai :)!

Here is my review of the book, which contains the full publishing details (obtained from the author himself).

The original English language version of this book was first published in January 2003. It is a 492 page large format (305mm x 235mm) hardcover book, printed in full colour on quality paper.

A second printing of the first English language edition was published in July 2005. There was no new information in this printing, but it did include corrections to minor errors within the first printing.

A Spanish language version, translated by José Ilario (publisher of Epicur Magazine, Spain) was released in December 2003.

A German language version, translated by Christoph Wolters, published by Rolf Schallowetz (AWM-Verlag), was released in January 2005. It contains 520 pages and includes some additional information on later releases.

This is arguably the ultimate book on post-revolutionary Havana Cigars. It is informative, scholarly and an excellently presented reference book. An absolute must for anyone interested in Cuban cigars.

It is clearly set out in a "dictionary" format, with colour-coded printing indicating main text, authors notes, comments by Adriano Martinez Rius (Honorary Consultant), production status etc. It also includes the authors comments on tasting notes with particular reference to aging of cigars.

As both the 2003 publication and the 2005 reprint represent a snap-shot of the Habanos range at of 31 December 2002, much of the current, discontinued and production status is out of date and (naturally) no post 2003 releases are included, but this in no way detracts from this book.

The author (who adopts a nom de plume of "Min Ron Nee") has revealed that the original edition was somewhat of a compromise, in that some information was left out to keep the book to a manageable 500 page limit, and the publication was rushed to keep a promised deadline for the February 2003 Habanos Festival.

A fully revised second edition is under consideration, however there is no publication deadline for this edition. It will be completely revised with both updated and new information, will have between 1,000 and 2,000 pages, and will be thoroughly checked before publication. Some of the information in the first edition will not be included in the second.

Thanks for posting that. I believe I saw it on your amazing web site. I look forward to buy the old and new edition when I can find either.

I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the 2nd Edition when it gets released. If its anything like the first, it sure to be spectacular.

Trevor --

No offense to you or the author, but I have to take issue with the word "scholarly" in your review.

The book is detailed and factual. The tasting notes are ancecdotal and of interest. '

But I don't think "scholarly" applies at all.

Purely my opinion . . . . based on the amount of research involved

Agreed . . . . it was not carried out in an educational establishment.
