Popular Post BrightonCorgi Posted Tuesday at 11:58 AM Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 11:58 AM Breaking Away is my favorite movie. It got me into cycling as a kid and still makes me want to get out in ride. Great story of growing up and the realities of coming to age. 9

The music, the dialogue, the characters, the casting, the out of sync English voice overs, I love it all. I am going with this one as well and for the same reasons. If we are talking comedy I would go Animal House as it reminds me of my own college shenanigans! 2

The scene with the guy trying to return a car still hits home for me. This scene is my father 🤣 2
Popular Post Puros Y Vino Posted Tuesday at 12:44 PM Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 12:44 PM Favourite? So many choices. I've probably seen Star Wars Ep IV at least 150 times since I was a kid. Alien/Aliens, Predator, Terminator 2 about 30 times each. Blade Runner about 40 times. Numerically my favorite should be easy to pick out. But that's not the case. As much I loved the aforementioned films my favorite movie is Gladiator. Everything about it to me is perfect. Great story, characters and acting highlighted by fantastic set work, effects and a soundtrack that hits at all the right moments. Ridley Scott at his finest, where he really gets into the details and rolls up his sleeves. I don't think he has been so prolific in the production and direction of a movie since Alien and Blade Runner. Runners up: Nacho Libre. The Big Lebowski. Two great comedies that are so subtlety layered that you notice something new with every viewing. 8

gormag38 Posted Tuesday at 01:25 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:25 PM Ughhh, such a hard question. Depends on my mood/when you were to ask me. But first thing that jumped to mind was Goodfellas. Was a shame that it didn't win best picture imo. Other MS flicks are up there for me too though, The Departed, Shutter Island, Wolf of Wallstreet. 2

It's pretty much the same story as the first one and while it probably cost more than the first one, it doesn't match the sense of grandeur of the first one. Denzel was fun to watch in the sequel though. 1
Ruggerpgh99 Posted Tuesday at 02:50 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:50 PM So many choices! In no particular order: - The Princess Bride - Good Will Hunting - The Dark Knight - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - Shawshank 2
laficion Posted Tuesday at 03:27 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:27 PM My favorite movies ? Well ,there are only two: the NO. 1 is "The Ten Commandments" with Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner. I must have seen it at least 15 times and NO. 2 is "How the West was won " with George Peppard and Carroll Baker. Loved both for their story and their music, just two great movies, (at least for me). LOL Guy 3
joeypots Posted Tuesday at 04:08 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:08 PM The last movie I watched that made me say that’s my favorite is The Departed. Being a Boston area boy and appreciating a movie made where the English language is spoken correctly is part of the appeal. Martin Scorsese directs and Jack Nicholson stars along with a huge cast. It's the dialog, I think, that got me. There are web pages of quotes from the movie. Some of the best and I know the manner and speech shown in this clip. Gets me every time. 4

I guess my favourite movie of all time would be "Once upon a time in the West", every d*mn thing about this movie is near perfect. (Still in love with Claudia Cardinale 😍) The Good, the Bad and the Ugly was my favorite Leone for years but Once Upon a Time in the West won out after watching if many times. It’s just perfection in every way. Positively riveting. Cheers! 5

Most people don't know it's actually a remake of a HK movie: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/infernal_affairs Both are fantastic. 2
David8406 Posted Wednesday at 01:52 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 01:52 AM A couple of my favorites not mentioned yet: The Godfather - Part II Forrest Gump Se7en The Silence of the Lambs. 3
GP012 Posted Wednesday at 01:57 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:57 AM Blazing Saddles for comedy, Slap Shot for sports, Gladiator for historical epic, and Die Hard for Christmas. I can vividly remember the first time I saw each of them. Edit: I forgot The Matrix. I was a teenager at the time and just getting into RATM, so “Wake Up” at the credits was [chef’s kiss] 4
Kenton1971 Posted Wednesday at 02:44 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:44 AM On the Waterfront Bullitt Patton (personal nostalgic reasons-watching with my dad) The Godfather Thunderball Goldfinger Dr. No
Wlu1988 Posted Wednesday at 03:04 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:04 AM I found myself thinking about this a bit today. I have two Spike Lee films that have always been up there for me - He Got Game and 25th Hour. I'm unsure if this qualifies but the late 1980s made for TV Movie (or is it a miniseries in today's world) of Lonesome Dove is an absolute masterpiece. 1

Agreed, both are amazing movies 👍 If I'm not mistaken, the HK movie got one or two sequels but I've yet to watch those. I love The Departed but I have to say there's one big flaw at least to me in this movie, I don't like Matt Damon's performance, I definitely don't buy him playing a playboy... Did you know Brad Pitt was set to play the character before Damon was cast? Di Caprio, Nicholson, Sheen, Baldwin, Ray Winstone, Wahlberg (not a big fan but what an incredible performance) and Brad Pitt??? To me the movie is almost perfect as it is but each time I see it (and I've seen it around 30 times over the years) I can't help thinking about that, bothers me a bit... Am I the only one?? 4

Goldeneye Posted Wednesday at 04:34 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:34 PM All time favorite movie would probably be Forest Gump, think it was magnificent in so many ways. 3
