It isn't the first time Melbourne has been rated up in the top 5 food cities of the world.

When I travel, I am a heathen. I will take a great restaurant over a great museum, a great bar over a world class art gallery. I do so happily ;)

So travel and great food for me go hand in hand.

I was wondering about your favourite food cities? Let us know.

A new study conducted by UK-based travel agency Travelbag used data from social media, OpenTable, and Get Your Guide to rank international destinations for foodies. At the bottom of the world, Melbourne, Australia, was named the top food city, largely thanks to its 100 different cuisines at more than 3,500 restaurants.

Melbourne was followed by Toronto, Dubai, and Sydney—all of which notably offer a wide variety of cuisines.

For me easily Singapore. Lunch, dinner, breakfast. I love that place. $10 duck and rice $3 street breakfast or ridiculously expensive Odette for dinner starting at around $500 ++ per person. Yes once a year its worth it.

Singapore for me as well.

New Orleans

Very hard one. My travels also revolve around food. Ask me tomorrow and my list would probably change

New York is almost a given, but also a huge city.

San Francisco, especially if permitted to include the whole Bay Area.

London is one of my favorite cities to eat, also a massive city.

San Sebastian, pound for pound hard to beat. Especially if you add in the environment. The whole place revolves around food

Oaxaca, Mexico. Mexico City might be a more fair pick but pound for pound Oaxaca wins. Another town that revolves around food

Honorable mentions for Istanbul, Osaka, Hong Kong (already mentioned), Singapore, Lima, and all towns in Northern Italy.

Montreal is a great food city.  I'll take that over New York City for regular food.  NYC gets the nod for the top end though.

For real. I'm from Toronto which has a massive range of cuisine to choose from. Montreal is the same, but way better when you factor in the traditional Quebecois cuisine, it's a no brainer. I've enjoyed food from Italy, France, Mexico while vacationing. Toronto is able to match many of the dishes I've found outside of Canada. I still have Spain and Portugal on the bucket list too.

Chicago despite all its faults, is a great food city

Whenever I get within 50 miles of Chicago I can't stop thinking about Johnnie's Beef.

Mexico City is definitely on my list. Top to bottom, it has great food. I've done the Michelin Star spots, but sign me up for a boozy Contramar lunch and a dinner at Rosetta any day.
