LaoFan Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Most countries have a beer that represents the country. Most countries 'National' beer is average at best... US - Budweiser, Canada - Molson. Some countries have fantastic beers. Might be contextual (probably). None of these are impressing beer snobs. But, which one is the best? Here's my top 3: 1) Costa Rica - Imperial ("La cerveza de Costa Rica") Solid light lager. Pura Vida. 2) Ireland - Guinness This is almost a cheat, cause it's not what I mean with a typical 'national' beer. But tough to beat a Guinness in an irish pub. 3) Indonesia - Bintang Life's good with a Bintang in Bali. There's obviously a slew of great beers... and the more I think about it, the more this is probably context and situation that make them rise to the top in our personal ranks. Honourable mentions: Singapore - Tiger Thailand - Singha India - Kingfisher Jamaica - Red Stripe Laos - Beerlao 2
El Hoze Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I may be biased, my wife is Dominican, but I will say Presidente. Dominicans commitment to ice cold beer wherever you go, in a country where electricity is so expensive and nothing is ever a given, is remarkable. I actually like Presidente too. Especially ice cold. This was a beer they served me while I was getting my sons haircut at a hair salon in Santiago. One degree colder and it would be slush. It’s the little things. 2
