My spreadsheet is 100% updated, and shows every box/stick bought/smoked, box code, invoice value, tax paid.

I've never audited my cigars. I have a spreadsheet of what I bought, where, when, how many and how much I paid that I use to know what to smoke first, but I never update inventory.

This is exactly what I do also. Deduct cigar once it’s put to a flame.

Running a tight ship over here. 😉

You know it!

You're still young. The day is coming when you can't remember what you ate for breakfast. Lol.

My main goal for this year is grabbing another box of Lusis! They’re so special.

I update my sheet with what I smoke and tasting notes of changes in every batch, once or twice a week.

I also have a plan for the count of sticks to be smoked every year out of every batch to make sure I have enough to smoke and age. I am organised in a very geeky way with cigars 😅 I don't care and I like it. ✌️

They are good cigars if you have the time to sit down and smoke them. I bought 2 boxes in 2021 and I've probably smoked 5 or 6. I've probably gifted as many as I've smoked.

I have a spreadsheet. Based on the occasional mistake I run into I’m sure there’s some inventory or records mismanagement. I should do a complete audit. But at least I know the f***** who’s acquiring and smoking everything. 😀

I have all my collection photographed and entered into CCW collection feature.

One can never have too many HUHCs. Nice collection - think you inspired me to start working on mine using this tool. Great work and thanks for sharing. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to admiring those different wrapper shades on the Diplomaticos boxes. I have my preference on wrapper shade on other brands but I’ve never been disappointed with any shade of the Diplos.

And ERdM Choix Supreme - that and the SLR Regio are two cigars I regret not going deeper on when they were readily available. The Choix is in my top 10 favorite cigars - possibly favorite morning cigar.

I don't use up the stock after every cigar I smoke. It is more important that the database contains the history of each box and its release year.

In 2022 I created a new spreadsheet which also references which storage container it is in. I know roughly the volume I smoke a year. Currently only buying custom rolls. I have a rough idea of count and more specific on location. I only update when a banded box is finished and remove from the current rough count. I can find anything I have pretty quickly these days and also know I have many many years of stock on hand. If I were to finish all of one vitola, plenty of others to smoke.

So, while I keep thinking I’ll take a day while my wife is out to update my list, it is not likely to happen for a while. Been three years already…

How often to I audit my inventory? Every time I smoke a cigar. Cuban Cigar Website has an easy and efficient Collection Management feature. I update my collection as I go along and acquire cigars (obviously like many of us, that's much less often than what it used to be) and when I smoke a cigar I can easily see how much of each cigar I have left in my inventory.

Had no idea this utility was even a thing! Learn something new every time I log into this place.

My inventory process is extremely simple. I have a Word document that lists every cigar in every container (the latter are all numbered), with information on date of arrival and, if known, factory code and production date. How many arrived and how many left. Tasting notes on the far right. When none of a particular brand and size are left, it goes to the end of the document, so I continue to track what I've smoked before, whether I have any of them left or not. After the humidor-based listings are a separate listing of every brand, and within each brand every vitola, including a running tally of how many are left.

It just requires being meticulous every time new cigars arrive, and especially the updating after each and every cigar is smoked or given out. It helps that I'm only an occasional smoker.  So long as I'm conscientious about this, no periodic auditing is required.

Never keep a record beyond what’s in my head. I just couldn’t be arsed. There’s also something magical about stumbling on a box I’d long forgotten about.

Custom rolls as in farm rolls? Are they good? I’ve heard mixed reviews on those, never have tried one.

I just made my first spreadsheet. I kept a paper log of what I bought.  Was good to go over. I’ll update what’s going on list in real time. What’s going out not so much. Plan on full audit twice a year. If I sell a box I’ll take off list quick.

Like everything else, know your supplier and like their product.

Moving forward, will likely do an audit once a year. I did one last month around my bday to see what’s smoking good, what needs more age, etc. In this audit I smoked a small sample (7) from my stock of different ages and marcas. I was also more intentional with parsing out my short term smoking supply and long term aging supply. Accounted for what I have based on records kept in my notes app. Probably need a more sophisticated way to know what’s going in/out, tasting notes, and other helpful info.
