a Brunello lunch

the usual irregular Saturday group did Brunello this weekend. a much smaller group than usual for all sorts of reasons. i was annoyed as my lift arrived early and three bottles of 6 Putt tokay from 2017 which i had tasted but brought along to finish had to be left for the vultures. 

we had some truly spectacular wines. i won't put in all of them, as we had a few average ones as well -

my fave was the Soldera 2006 by the smallest whisker from the Cerbaiona 2018 (visited there last year and it was seriously fascinating - now run by an American who looks like Stanley Tucci and has some really interesting views on the wines and much more, and most importantly, making stellar wines), but the Soldera had the advantage of an extra decade plus. two of the very best wines i have seen in ages.

the Pertamali, from a brilliant vintage, 2010, a tick behind (but way behind when it comes to price - this was the value wine of the day by a mile).

for quality, the Biondi Santi 2010 was just as good.

the Canalicchio di Sopra Riserva 2012 also special and the 1991 Argiano was a lovely older wine.

and i swear i set up all the photos so they were upright but as soon as they go to this stuff-up of a website, they go sideways. apols and no idea why but i tried.

Love Brunellos and the Biondi Santi is an all time favourite of mine. Thanks for sharing!
