Popular Post LaoFan Posted March 22 Popular Post Posted March 22 I would think that a smarter move then blowing up the cigar smoker's world would be to do more to eliminate bubble gum flavoured vapes. Can't really smoke anywhere that you'd want to smoke. No smoking signs and fines everywhere. Even if you could smoke the prices are wild. Can really only smoke as you walk around downtown because you're never in front of any one door long enough for anyone to care. The guys at The Casablanca Tobacconist were cool. Talked shop with them and shared some Cuba stories. Decently stocked spot. Selection of Cubans. Anyone interested in a $432 CAD stick of BHK 54? Thanks to @Puros Y Vino for the Correnti Reco. Cool spot in Chinatown. The packaging is sad. At least its hiding underneath... Couldn't resist: I doubt Canada is going to be opening up more lax smoking laws anytime soon. Hope my fellow Canadians can continue to figure out some good smoke spots. Bundle up in the winter. 10 1
mikejh Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Are the brown bands something the government adds or do they make the manufactures do it?
tbelle7 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 The "plain paper" packaging always cracks me up. Image of a box I got from LCDH in Windsor (Tijuana North) ~2 years ago (before I knew any better). 1

If I'm not mistaken the manufacturer has to do it. The shop I go to holds almost monthly an event on Saturdays and there is always a distributer present and the said that those brown bands are applied at the factory. The shop I'm taking about is on a reserve. 2
MagicalBikeRide Posted March 22 Posted March 22 In Canada, I understand the plain packaging / cover up bands need to be in place during import. So it would be done by the manufacturer or distributor. In other countries with plain packaging laws, Ireland for example, the shop applies the bands themselves. 1

The Canadian distributor, Havana House, applies the green bands in Havana as well as the replacement, cardboard boxes. 4 1
Puros Y Vino Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Glad you enjoyed Correntis. Too bad you arrived during a cold spell. We were having a pleasantly warm Spring for a week or so. 2
Hammer Smokin' Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Yes, Canada is not meant for the tobacco smoker. We've moved onto leading the world in another plant. (And one that doesn't make you feel demonized to enjoy it - which is ironic.)

Fascinating...I used to think that legalisation was the cornerstone of a frontier civilisation but in practice its always far from utopia. Now that Thailand has legalised, I see that civilisation may in fact have very little to do with it, then again you can do both in the Land of Smiles and to be fair, much much more. Singaporeans love to tell the world what they do to those who dare to get high and is known to be very anti-smoking but interestingly of late, has allowed cigar lounges in closed premises away from public view. @LaoFan Thanks for the city review, albeit an inhospitable one! 2
EFFQUE Posted March 23 Posted March 23 They do everything possible to discourage smoking. Got slapped with 100% duties on my last order of CC’s.
canadianbeaver Posted March 24 Posted March 24 This is why since 2011, FOH has been our favourite place to hang out with friends and get cigars. ❤️ CB 4
Popular Post Puros Y Vino Posted March 24 Popular Post Posted March 24 Torontonian here. Yeah, the situation here does kinda suck. But...we've developed a Prohibition/Speakeasy culture around it. Don't ask about it. Don't post about it if you do know what I'm alluding do. I will personally delete any offending data. I do notice more people enjoying a stick where they can. And by notice, I mean the sweet smell of tobacco first and then who is smoking a stick shortly thereafter. It's a bit of a fractured community for sure, but there are some stalwarts and rebels amongst us still. 5 2

havanaclub Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Crazy bands. And to think with that 432 bhk, if you bought a box it would come in that thin cardboard not the lacquered box. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 1
canadianbeaver Posted Friday at 04:06 PM Posted Friday at 04:06 PM Have a great place we meet with friends in Toronto and the prices are not unreasonable considering the taxes we deal with. They have non-Cubans and a house brand which are really fair too. Look up Smokin’ Cigar on Bayview. Canadian with six boxes of Cubans from Australia and Switzerland in California here. On holiday. And I am not even that clever. CB 1
