Popular Post Puros Y Vino Posted March 14 Popular Post Posted March 14 Been watching Ancient Apocalypse. In Season 2, Episode 5 around the 17:30 mark, they mention that tobacco was used ceremonially around 12,000 years ago. Seeds found in Utah carbon dated to this point in time. This strand had some hallucinogenic traits. This brings up two interesting points. Tobacco is NOT the death of all those who consume it. If 12,000 years of usage hasn't wiped out humanity, then the hyperbole needs to die down. We finally know what Habanos has been smoking to somewhat explain the crazy path they've embarked on.😁 1 7
Li Bai Posted March 14 Posted March 14 There's something sacred about tobacco, plain and simple 🧐 3 1
teamrandr Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Tobacco or Mapacho is revered as a master plant teacher. It is used hand in hand when one is in a session with a shaman. Tobacco is a protector and can clear negative energy. Of course it is Nicotiana Rustica. A strain 20x as strong as cigarette tobacco. Which when taken in a form known as Hape can facilitate visions. Either way tobacco is sacred. 2 1

Ceremonial or ritual use would presumably be sporadic and selective (not everyone in the community would partake, and not habitually). So it probably wouldn't kill everyone. I mean, even for ritual human sacrifice, where the mortality of participants was 100%, it didn't kill everyone (least of all, the priestly class who oversaw the ritual). Though I could be wrong, and we should have fought the anti-disembowelment hysteria harder. 1

Leave us be! FWIW. And it's anecdotal. Over the years, some doctors, dentists and some in gov't have stated that here in Canada, when our Federal body (Statistics Canada) reviews death statistics for a calendar year, they look for if the deceased has tobacco use/smoking in their records and sometimes swing the "cause of death" over to tobacco usage. In Ontario, the province I live in. Yearly budgets used to show what annual alcohol and tobacco tax revenue numbers were. Despite our gov't spending tons on anti-smoking campaigns, tobacco in all forms still put up solid tax revenues. So much so, that they removed the line item for tobacco tax revenues and put it under alcohol tax revenues. That way, they can claim booze tax revenues went up, but tobacco taxes went down due to less usage.

Say that while pulling your mouth apart! Did you know... Do we have a fun facts thread...?
