Laptop down

It was showing signs but has crapped itself (Technical term) today.

Boot up is a 25 minute process and programs are not accessible/time out.

Expertbook B9

My It guru Kos will have a new HP ready to go Monday.

Any hints as to what I can do in the meantime...appreciated 👍

Yes Ken, I have already turned it off/on.

It’s time for a Mac. No viruses, no problems, no BS.

They stopped using intel chips and started their own now. I wonder how these M series chips will perform. I think they came from the phones and are now in the Macs. Above all, I am hoping they run cooler. Especially on the MacBook Airs, as they are fan-less so its a curious one. Maybe someone here has one running on an M2 or M3.

Good luck! My IBM Thinkpad is eight years old and still going. I am thinking of a replacement though honestly.

I have a 2021 M1 Pro MacBook Pro and I love it. It's way better, faster and more efficient than my Intels. No fans, no heat and is super fast for my editing and recording (as an example, I have about 38 plugins running on 8 input mic channels when we record). I have no intention to upgrade at this time.

You couldn't pay me to go back to PC.

Those M series chips are cool but the price gouging on memory configurations is downright criminal.  Other than that, great tech. The O/S to hardware integration on Macs is second to none.  Windows has improved vastly but it is still overbloated, buggy, spyware crap. I've switched to Linux full time and run Windows VM's if I really need access to a Windows app (mostly office). Look into Framework laptops for something different but easier to manage/build. They make fully modular laptops. If you need to upgrade they are far easier to swap components in/out https://frame.work

I’m still using a Mac Book Pro from 2018. Still going strong. Any problems, they fix it.

Ditto.

New MacBook Air is back to basic 16gb of ram. I might trade in my old M1 Pro. If you stick with windows I’ll stay clear of intel core ultra 7 155h. Hearing those end up running way to hot.

I'm going to take stab and say your hard drive is slowly dying out on you and there's nothing you can really do. To echo everyone else I'm writing as we speak from a M4 MacBook Pro and its a beast of a machine. Previously had the MacBook Air for 10 years and still worked fine but decided it was time for an upgrade.

I misread the title.

And I have not had a BBF in forever.

Thanks for the info

I have managed to strip unecessary start up programs and update drivers. It has improved. I just need it to be operational until Monday :cigar:

Likely running out of disk space. Check in the explorer at the top level where it lists the disks. If so, delete some stuff. Windows has some clean up tooling.

Go to Start > Run and type %windir%\temp and click enter. Delete all the files you can.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% and click enter. Delete all the files you can.
