Popular Post Luca Posted March 9 Popular Post Posted March 9 A great read of @Capn_Jackson's interesting CoRo RotR25 review has led me to revisit a 2016 Cohiba Robusto Tubo which I purchased from FoH on 24:24. I made a mess around the house looking for the cardboard box in order to find the box code. Bear in mind my partner keeps asking me why I keep so many empty boxes... I'm glad I hoard boxes for...important work like this... First third: Off to a great start. On the palate its silky smooth with notes of baking spice/nutmeg and hay. The retro hale is creamy combined with that gentle baking spice note lingering. The cream and baking spice/nutmeg lasts like a Brandy Alexander. Second third: Cream is now intensifying and building up to medium body. Beautiful burnt butter notes coming through at the back of the palate with that Cohiba grassy hay note. I really enjoy Cohiba grass notes and when there is cream - it's an added bonus in my books. Hopefully these grass notes develop to a sweeter grass note. Final third: Cream notes have faded away. Fortunately that Cohiba grass note is still there. It's not that sweet grassy note I usually seek out in a Cohiba Robusto. But still - a great smoke! Paired this with a Archie Rose Gin and Tonic and then later, a glass of Brimoncourt NV Brut Rosé Champagne. Hope you're all having a great weekend. Thanks for reading! If anyone has smoked a 2016 Cohiba recently - keen to hear what your experience was like. 10 2
JohnS Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Great review. I actually wonder, what with current pricing, if there are more people listing 2016 Cohiba Robustos on Bond Roberts in lieu of smoking them? 😂 1 1
Popular Post joeypots Posted March 9 Popular Post Posted March 9 Nice review. At their best the CORO is an iconic cigar. Trouble is there are wonderful Cuban Robustos, at the bargain price of about $25, (I can't believe I just typed that) available that will scratch my itch for the vitola. 2 3
Sandman Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Nice! I smoked possibly around 10 boxes of 2016 CoRo Tubos back in 2017-2018. Most of mine were EL code, but I had others. The tobacco they used for CoRos in 2016 was on point. Very refined and tasted aged. The next year the wrappers were darker and the cigars smoked differently, not nearly as refined as 2016. Still great, but 2016 CoRos will always stand out to me. 3

Back before "Cigarmageddon" when pricing was...better. 1
