Hoping some of you more seasoned travellers can assist. My daughter is studying abroad in Madrid currently and we plan to go see her and take in the country for a couple of weeks in late May/early June. I'm looking for any and all suggestions of where to stay, what to do, and what to see. And of course, I'm looking for suggestions on recommended cigar stores for CC's (single sticks to smoke on the trip) and ideal locations to relax and take it in. Thanks in advance!

Additional info here, we're tentatively looking at visiting Madrid, Barcelona, Cordoba, Seville, Granada and Toledo. Any must see things there, restaurants, cigar shop/lounge suggestions are appreciated. And if any of these places can be skipped in lieu of a better destination, don't hesitate to call it out!

Magalllanes estanco Habanos was a good shop to visit in Madrid. in general there are plenty of cigar shops all over the country but Magallanes stood out in stock when I was there.

Enjoy your trip so many nice places to visit and great food to try.

Madrid is a beautiful city and absolutely massive.   I was the designated minivan driver a few years ago on a family vacation through Northern Spain (Basque country) and still suffer PTSD from it.

This place is great for when you’re in Madrid. I’ve not been since 2019, but Gibraltar is close-ish to Seville and has the obvious tax breaks and associated tobacco culture. The LCDH and Stagnetto used to be worth a visit.

Regarding wider culture and Spanish norms - it’s one of the most smoke friendly countries in Europe. If you’re at an outdoor terrace or cafe and there are no ash trays on tables, ask the waiter and it will likely still be ok to smoke. In other outdoor locations, it’s probably fine to fire one up when you feel the urge.

Have fun!  When I was there last Summer, many shops had very limited inventory. Surprisingly, even though it was a very small Estanco with only one cabinet style humidor, check out Estanco Juderia when you're in Cordoba as it's very close the main attraction of the Mezquita. They had the most variety available of most of all the shops I visited on my trip. If you're looking for singles, this place was perfect. I was even able to get a full box of the new Spanish RE. Also, I'd recommend you walk into any Estancos you walk past as I was able to get the Spanish REs in 3 different random hole in the walls, probably because they weren't well known to cigar enthusiasts.

If you are looking at visiting Alhambra, better book your tickets now. I was on the official Alhambra website last week and no ticket date was available till mid May.

The pickpocketing is no joke.

Sadly,my buddy got dealt on a public transit once and that goes for a lot of Europe unfortunately.

I visited Jaca during a Pyrenees run a few years ago. Limited stock but such a lovely town.

Well, if you're planning a trip to Chicago you don't have to worry about pick pockets, but you might get shot...

Went to Barcelona 2 years ago and visited Estancia Duado for some sticks, good selection. I enjoyed talking to the owner he’s an older gentleman.

Used to have some of the best stock in Spain but sadly not the case any more. Now, mostly NCs and even then not that much. They relocated a few years ago. Now almost directly across the road from the previous shop.

BCN has been picked clean as has Madrid, Seville, Málaga etc, etc, etc

I was in BCN last September and didn't come anywhere near my customs allowance. Usually I bring home 50 for myself and 50 using my wife's allowance. That time, I brought home around 30 and all but 3 were NCs.

I was there last fall and I believe I went to the “biggest” cigar shop, La Cava de Arjona. I literally bought half of their Cubans, which consisted of 1 box of ERDM Demi Tasse, 1 box of something Rafael Gonzalez and a 3 pack of Monte Petit #2. I went for the 3 pack of CoRo but it was €150.
