sbsbsb1 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Hoping some of you more seasoned travellers can assist. My daughter is studying abroad in Madrid currently and we plan to go see her and take in the country for a couple of weeks in late May/early June. I'm looking for any and all suggestions of where to stay, what to do, and what to see. And of course, I'm looking for suggestions on recommended cigar stores for CC's (single sticks to smoke on the trip) and ideal locations to relax and take it in. Thanks in advance! Additional info here, we're tentatively looking at visiting Madrid, Barcelona, Cordoba, Seville, Granada and Toledo. Any must see things there, restaurants, cigar shop/lounge suggestions are appreciated. And if any of these places can be skipped in lieu of a better destination, don't hesitate to call it out!
Cigarsmoker81 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Magalllanes estanco Habanos was a good shop to visit in Madrid. in general there are plenty of cigar shops all over the country but Magallanes stood out in stock when I was there. Enjoy your trip so many nice places to visit and great food to try.
David8406 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Madrid is a beautiful city and absolutely massive. I was the designated minivan driver a few years ago on a family vacation through Northern Spain (Basque country) and still suffer PTSD from it. 1

I’ve not been since 2019, but Gibraltar is close-ish to Seville and has the obvious tax breaks and associated tobacco culture. The LCDH and Stagnetto used to be worth a visit. Regarding wider culture and Spanish norms - it’s one of the most smoke friendly countries in Europe. If you’re at an outdoor terrace or cafe and there are no ash trays on tables, ask the waiter and it will likely still be ok to smoke. In other outdoor locations, it’s probably fine to fire one up when you feel the urge.
