Love this one Cheers! Welp! Long ago, in my nearly-forgotten younger days, as a math-minded Baseball fan, I enjoyed whatifsports.com's Simleagues Baseball. Think of it as Fantasy Baseball - except using historical player seasons from 1885-present. You could make your dream team and play them in a league against those of others, and there was a live play widget that let you play your season's games live against your opponent (instead of the website's algorithm simulating your team's games). The Live play was what really got me hooked. I enjoyed the play and banter. It was a lot of fun. I was in a few leagues, won several championships in my progressive leagues. Good Times. Now the handle - For each of your Simleague teams, whatifsports would computer generate a short roster of "rookie" players for you to use, if a member(s) of your regular lineup got tired and needed to rest up. The rookie players had stats based on historical inexperienced players, but the computer would come up with randomized player names for them. They were never meant to be starters, but like all rookies - some were great, some were lousy. Luck of draw. The computer generated names were pretty random-sounding ballplayer names. Nick Snider. William Nardi. Rick Sabo. Glenn Woods. etc. etc. etc. BUT ONE YEAR. I got a catcher with the best damn random name ever. Chance Schmerr. What kind of ridiculous shyte name is that?!??! The name would have been good enough to go on - but the dude raked too! Best hitting rookie I'd seen in a long time. I was sold. And it's been my alter-ego ever since. 6 2 1

Popular Post Cigar Surgeon Posted Tuesday at 11:44 PM Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 11:44 PM I started out a long, long time ago as Avrus which was a handle from Everquest. Then back at the dawn of Reddit /r/cigars there was a guy who got all upset when I told him his fake Cohibas were fake, after he asked whether they were fake or not. I told him to relax it wasn't like we were performing cigar surgery and someone's life was at stake. That became Cigar Surgeon. 6

clovis Posted Wednesday at 01:07 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:07 AM When I enrolled in college to live in the dorms I had a "potluck" (randomly assigned) roommate. We ended up being very good friends. Domino's Pizza would deliver to our dorm. When ordering, we for some reason used the name Clovis. It's sort of been a handle type name ever since. 2
Lamboinee Posted Wednesday at 02:43 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:43 AM I imagined what my last name would be if it belonged to a famous Italian magician. The Great Lamboinee. 1
unaslob Posted Wednesday at 03:23 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:23 AM Ha. Takes me back to early to mid 90’s. The internet was just a bunch of dialup BBS’s and IRC. (Quite similar to what we do now on forums with now being more real time.) A strapping teen with a weird sense of humor, I came up with my handle for all BBS’s and IRC chat rooms as unaslob, after the unabomber-who was infamous at the time. Unaslob stuck as everywhere I went, I made a mess, still do sometimes. Silly I know, but I have a thing for the history of it. I used the same email address from the early 90’s until the domain finally shut down. 2
BigGuns Posted Wednesday at 04:07 AM Posted Wednesday at 04:07 AM A play on my last name. Started out as Mo Guns, had a number of other iterations including Machine Guns, Tommy Guns, etc…but the one that was most used and stuck was Big Guns. 2

Popular Post Kaptain Karl Posted Wednesday at 07:58 PM Popular Post Posted Wednesday at 07:58 PM My late best friend Brent would always call me Kaptain Karl when we fished on my boat together. Mostly in a pirate voice haha. Probably put 500+ hours fishing together in the years before his death. After he passed I changed all of my handles to Kaptain Karl in honor of him. 10

He would often pull off one of his socks and walk around with one sock. 1
