chasy Posted January 19 Posted January 19 It’s getting past my bed time. I think this is all but over. Huge performance by the Commanders. Daniels is the real deal and Goff didn’t deliver. No answer for Daniels and the Commanders offense. Good to see a long suffering franchise get a big win. I’ll be cheering Daniels & Co on!
Tinny Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Congratulations to the Commanders. I love a good underdog story. Now someone please beat Kansas City, sooo tired of that that team.
avaldes Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Great game for Washington. I have to think that when Goff got popped on that run back, he wasn't all the way in there for the rest of the game. But also have to wonder what he was doing down there anyway?
Ken Gargett Posted January 19 Posted January 19 well that was a surprise. even when our useless kicker missed the field goal with about seven to go, i still thought we'd do something redskins-ish and blow it. these are not your old skins. now, imagine what we could do if we could tackle! very hard to see us going further (though i'd really, really hate to lose to the iggles) but then no one ever saw us going this far, least of all me (well, that is not true. we have one blowhard on a skins forum who insisted that we would not win a game and would have the first pick in the draft - he was till explaining his reasoning the other day). HTTR. 1

anacostiakat Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Pleasant surprise! And yeah, even with a halftime lead I thought there was a lot of football left to play and the Lions could certainly come back. Too many mistakes by the Lions but they were still able to score. Game ended at about 11:26 here in DC. Beyond my normal bedtime. Heh. Let's see who wins the Rams/Eagles game. I like the three o'clock gametime here.

Redgoldband Posted January 19 Posted January 19 The Skins/Commanders were our family’s second team, and I grew up watching them. Last night, they looked like a brand new team. I’ve never seen ‘em click so well. Even if they lose the next game, I’m interested to see where they go as an organization from here. They discovered something this season they can hopefully hold on to. LA & PHL today; I have no dog in this fight. LA is the city where I've been living for the last seven plus years, and before that, Philly, where I got married and lived for two years. I’ll tip my hat to the birds as the east coaster in me is still alive. LA could use this win, though, considering the city’s recent disaster. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
JohnS Posted January 19 Posted January 19 So disappointing if you are a Detroit Lions fan. In summary, if you turnover the ball 5 times you will struggle to be competitive, as was the case with the Lions.
Ken Gargett Posted January 20 Posted January 20 16 hours ago, El Presidente said: The number 1 skins fan is already taken. Ken has been banging the drum for 25 years 😅 35 years!! actually, a bit longer. not pessimistic, realistic. most of us still can't believe slimey dan really is gone. we are struggling to embrace the new reality. we are just waiting for reality to steal our rainbows and lollypops. as for anyone picking them to win it all at the beginning of the year, of the hundreds of posts i have seen on various skins forums, i reckon the number who thought that they might make the playoffs could be counted on one hand. and all of them gave us no chance to progress. i have seen no one seriously believe that they could win it all, at least back in pre-season. had they genuinely believed, i think our odds were 5000-1. someone shows me a ticket for that and i will still say that it was simply a mad punt for a bit of fun and then wish them the best to collect. in a quiet reflective moment late at night, i have no doubt that quinn, harris, magic and anyone else associated with the team would confess they thought we had no chance of the playoffs this year. we have ridden our luck so far. getting to the NFC Championship game is an astonishing achievement and should be celebrated by all commode fans. pray to the divinities we continue next week. as our muppet kicker said to coach quinn when he hit the post and went in to beat tampa, better to be lucky than good. that said, daniels is truly more than good. mind you, so is barkley. we have already lost our best member of the O line and we already were not good at stopping the run. it we are not careful, barkley will run for 300 yards. HTTR. ps - an early prediction for next year. we will be a better team. we will keep pretty much everyone we want, and we will be able to attract a few very good players, but they'll avoid the superstars. cash will be spent wisely. we have a much tougher schedule and we are not going to ambush anyone. so we may have fewer wins. we'll challenge for the NFC east but we may or may not sneak in with a playoff spot but once there, we will again cause some of the top teams a tough time. the following year.... look out!! or possibly, we will lift the Lombardi all three years.
JohnS Posted January 20 Posted January 20 My son, George was devastated that the Ravens couldn't get a 2-point conversion to take the game against the Bills into overtime. Lamar Jackson's sportsmanship with Josh Allen at the conclusion of the game was a nice touch. After the game, my son, brother-in-law and myself agreed that even though the Commanders have made it to the NFC Championship for the first time in 33 years, the majority interest next weekend will centre on the Bills stopping the Chiefs going to the SuperBowl for the third time in a row.

JohnS Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Yeah, sure Ken...look, it's just an opinion (man - couldn't help but add that Big Lebowski reference there!) The Bills have lost to the Chiefs in the playoffs the last three times they've met, yet the Bills hold an advantage over the Chiefs of late during the regular season. Josh Allen is a great quarterback but he absolutely needs to prove it this weekend against Patrick Mahomes. I think that this is why the Bills-Chiefs are on Sunday night on CBS rather than in the afternoon on Fox like the Commanders-Eagles. I believe that a great number of neutral NFL fans do not want to see the Chiefs three-peat this year and would like to see the Bills win. And, these same neutral fans don't care so much about the Commanders-Eagles result, by comparison.
anacostiakat Posted January 20 Posted January 20 No diss to the Chiefs fans but yea I don't want to see them win again. Heh. Don't tell my wife!
Namisgr11 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 It was a winter classic in the snow and ice yesterday in Philly. The game had most everything: tension down to the final minute, treacherous playing conditions, a couple spectacular individual performances, key injuries, missed kicks, turnovers, sacks, and big plays on both sides of the ball. Improbably, the NFC championship game will be held here at the Linc next Sunday. Hot take for a Monday: Saquon Barkley is (arguably) the best player in the NFL.

PSSSSHHHH....58 year Redskin fan! My first game at RFK I saw Sonny Jurgenson throw a TD to Walter (the flea) Roberts in 1967. And I luv your predictions! And why not the Skins for three years? With JD5, anything is possible! 1
JohnS Posted January 20 Posted January 20 There's no doubt whatsoever that Jayden Daniels has had a great year, and an even better postseason. It's been fun (and intriguing) to watch. 1

Jayden, Bo Nix and Drake Maye have all proved themselves as franchise quarterbacks even though some of them couldn't make the playoffs.

VeguerosMAN Posted January 21 Posted January 21 JD is a cold-blooded killer and is playing better than Mahomes, Allen, and Hurt right now. He does whatever it takes to win.
