Popular Post JohnS Posted January 12 Popular Post Posted January 12 Juan López Dom Juan 1622 Arrives in France January 9, 2025 - Patrick Lagreid A new Edición Regional has arrived in France, the Juan López Dom Juan 1622. The cigar measures 5 9/10 inches (150mm) long with a 54-ring gauge, a vitola known as the geniales. It is a vitola that has been used many times for Edición Regional releases, but can also be found in regular production cigars, notably the Montecristo Open Eagle and the Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan. A press release from Coprova, the distributor of Habanos S.A. products in France, calls the cigar “a generous and elegant Habano with subtle and medium-bodied notes.” The cigar is priced at €32 per cigar, approximately $US32.94. It is offered in 10-count boxes, with 10,000 individually-numbered boxes produced. The cigar pays tribute to the famous Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known as Molière, who was the author of the comedy play “Dom Juan,” which was based on the 1630 play “El burlador de Sevilla y convidado de piedra” (“The Trickster of Seville and the Stone Guest”) by Tirso de Molina. Molière was born in 1622, and the cigar was selected in 2022 in recognition of the 400th anniversary of his birth. The Edición Regional program is offered by Habanos S.A. to its various distributors around the world. Each year, distributors can select one cigar to be commissioned for their region, though there have been exceptions when some distributors have been able to select more than one. Those cigars must come from a brand that was not part of the company’s former “Global Brands” and must be a size that is currently not offered in that specific brand. Edición Regional cigars are signified by a secondary red and silver band that reads Edición Regional, followed typically by the name of the region represented by that specific distributor. Often, the cigars do not arrive at stores during the year they are selected for, sometimes multiple years later. Source: https://halfwheel.com/juan-lopez-dom-juan-1622-arrives-in-france/446040/ 3 2
