I don't even know if it's possible or not but why not create a "virtual lounge" that would be open 24/7 ?  I'll try to explain myself... "You're home alone, smoking a cigar and feel like meeting

I think there should be arbitrary weekly banning. I mean, the moderators just don’t get to do much of anything. 🙄

i think we have a winner!!

There is nothing glaring that I feel missing or lacking here.

If there was a wish, sometimes Rob will post a calendar or a look ahead but it doesn't get pinned which makes it hard to find. IE: I swear there was a post about Q1 2025 somewhere that listed a Fabrica5 & BondRoberts release schedule (N8 returning in Feb/Mar maybe?) but for the life of me I can't find it now.

Give a bit of love to some of the many sub-forums on the big variety of topics out of the waterhole would be cool. Wine, art, economics, travel, and all else; it’s already there and with so many members from all over and all over it just adds a lot. Or maybe bring more of those topics into the waterhole. Many entertaining threads have been not directly related to cigars specifically over the last few years.

In any case, FOH is great.

For me I'd love to see the loading times decrease. On my fairly new Mac, it's like dial-up waiting for the pages to slowly load.

Fix the photo upload problem! Wrecks my day!

Can't post daily cigar! Weekly. Bi-weekly at best in this weather. I'm ashamed.

I'll try to explain myself... "You're home alone, smoking a cigar and feel like meeting and having a chat with a botl/sotl ?? No problem, just jump in !"

Maybe a Zoom lounge like you regularly do here but one any member could connect to any time he feels like it ? Living in France it's always hard for me to join your sessions given it's the middle of the night for me 😅

Ok, I gave @Elpresidente 24 hours to respond to a DM. As far as I know, the FOH Zoom link is on 24/7. Myself and a few FOH members hook up weekly on Thursday nights for a virtual herf. I think what you seek is already here. Name the time and hit the Zoom link.

If I am incorrect in that statement, would one of the (real) moderators please respond and clarify?

A discord server is a good solution for an easy accessible virtual lounge. Without links, invites etc. could be more spontaneous.

Would love to see a revival of blind review comps, where we all purchase a ~5-10 cigar sampler with bands removed, and we go through week-by-week reviewing each one as a community.

Could lead to interesting speculation in the reviews/comments, OR could take a different route and have all speculation discouraged - talk about the cigar as a cigar but don't talk about what you think it is, then all the people who purchased can have a unique surveymonkey link or something where they secretly submit their guesses, and then either small prizes weekly or a grand prize at the end.

Prize doesn't have to be that grand though, since I won't win it 😮‍💨 but I'd be right in for the love of the game.

Love the community. Just wish prices were lower so it could be more about the fun all around.

As for improvements -- Agree with an earlier suggestion: Download times strike me as very long even on a high speed connection.

Thanks for the invitation to contribute!  Appreciate you all creating and maintaining this forum.

Exercise our massive combined market power to get a 70% discount for FOHers from Habanos so we can get back to Pre-Covid prices. (Or do a dodgy deal with one of their executives to smuggle them out, either way.)

Participate in a crowd-sourced double-blind study of actual cigar smokers to show the policy makers the evidence on health outcomes and the need to differentiate from eye-watering cigarette duties.

... ... ... I can't think smaller just now, must be the season for NY pledges!

I had to look it up as I'm a Pr Alan Grant kind of guy when it comes to anything computers 😅 😅 😅

One thing I’ve been kicking around is an idea for long form writing. I’ve always felt that what’s missing (and what I’d love to read) is something with the quality of The New Yorker but focused purely on cigars.

The issue I have with virtually all cigar magazines is the quality of the actual writing is pretty poor. Or in the case of CA, simply uninteresting and somewhat untrustworthy.

Being a writer, I’ve been thinking of doing this myself.

Curious if it’s something folks would be interested in. Not trying to highjack the post btw.

You read round the world in 80 cigars? And the follow up?

What you really want is more cigar reviews by @hrs1 - haven’t seen one in a while but he’s a great writer.

Long form indepth writing is an artform that I love to read!

Good writing is such a manner stands out like a beacon in today's world where so many articles start with "Top 7 ......" or "I am an aficionado and these are the 5 things I have learnt.

Folks, thank you for your input on this thread.

Steve and I will catch up next week to go over this thread and tease out what is doable now, what is possible in the mid term...and what to punt :lol3:

Again, appreciated :ok:

Maybe a monthly or bi-monthly connoisseur corner. Call it something else by all means whereby two or three members hook up for an aged or rare, vintage  review. Now the dynamics of a particular cigar, box code, year etc. may provide a hurdle. That said, I am sure our member base can accommodate it. We could just open a thread and members can throw around different cigars until we have two or three to put a video together. Now this would not include Rob Or Ken...Ken can do the editing! 😁

Minimum...we don't really need one. But the further we could all go back with cigars that have age would be pretty cool. Plenty to discuss.

No! But it’s on my list! I’ve heard great things.

I’d just love a consistent, monthly cigar related thing to read though. Cigar Journal for example on the surface has so many great titles and ideas, but the content is so shallow and I’m sorry to say, just not very well written, at least the English version.

100% Agreed Rob! Especially today, where the goal is also to pump the piece out quickly, thus, no time for quality and depth.

2025 FOH updated math ...

2024

Half box= 12 cigars

1/4 box= 6 cigars

2025

Half box = 12.5 cigars

1/4 box = 6 & 1/4 cigars

🤣🤣🤪

Sorry, just having fun!
