charx Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I spoke to a guy here in the USA who has been in the business for 20 years. He is convinced that the Cubans are adding Nicaraguan leaf in some of their lower priced cigars because there isn't enough of the locally grown Cuban leaf for full production. Anybody else heard of this? 1

VeguerosMAN Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I heard rumors that Cuba used Nicaraguan tobaccos in the 60's.
Puros Y Vino Posted January 8 Posted January 8 There's also the flipside of this story of Cuban tobacco going to Nicaragua under the cover of darkness in speedboats, rafts, etc. These rumors always tend to spout from NC shills and those associated with some NC producers. 1

You can certainly purchase Cuban tobacco for use in cigars. It's generally crap volado but available and used. 2
Cigar Surgeon Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I'll say the same thing I do every time this comes up: show me a shipping manifest and I'll believe it. With that said I think someone last year posted an import report for Cuba that showed Nicaraguan or Dominican tobacco was being imported, but I think it was for cigarettes.
LordAnubis Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Why listen to a guy who tells you stories? What would he know? Look at real data. And the real data shows Brazilian tobacco being exported to Cuba. So if anything, it’s Brazilian filler. 😈
laficion Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Hi all, AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!, I've heard this so many times since the early 70's . I think this guy has been in the WRONG business for the last 20 years; Guy 2
Puros Y Vino Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Good to hear from you @laficion Now we know what topic gets you to respond!! 😁 Hope you're doing well. Happy New Year!
Tinny Posted January 9 Posted January 9 There is no way, they know something like that would destroy Habanos entire reputation/market. 1
laficion Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Thank you PUROS Y VINO, and the happiest of a New Year to you and to yours, and to everyone. Guy 1
