I spoke to a guy here in the USA who has been in the business for 20 years. He is convinced that the Cubans are adding Nicaraguan leaf in some of their lower priced cigars because there isn't enough of the locally grown Cuban leaf for full production.  Anybody else heard of this?

There's also the flipside of this story of Cuban tobacco going to Nicaragua under the cover of darkness in speedboats, rafts, etc. These rumors always tend to spout from NC shills and those associated with some NC producers.

You can certainly purchase Cuban tobacco for use in cigars. It's generally crap volado but available and used.

I'll say the same thing I do every time this comes up: show me a shipping manifest and I'll believe it.

With that said I think someone last year posted an import report for Cuba that showed Nicaraguan or Dominican tobacco was being imported, but I think it was for cigarettes.

Why listen to a guy who tells you stories? What would he know? Look at real data. And the real data shows Brazilian tobacco being exported to Cuba. So if anything, it’s Brazilian filler. 😈
