What's up for the weekend?

Back to work Monday so I will be prepping this weekend. I quite enjoy the personal 2 day annual prep weekend where you allign your corporate and personal compass for the year. 

Of course, no battle plan survives first contact with the enemy 

This weekend prep is normally accompanied by generous amounts of cigars and Negroni/Champagne. 

Very Churchillian.

Some wintertime bass fishing punctuated with cigars and bourbon. I'm also trying to get my mind right for another year.

Just the usual. Mowing lawns, doing some gardening, cleaning my car, swimming in the pool and generally trying to cope with a forecast heatwave on the South-East side of Australia. Also, watching cricket, NFL, smoking cigars and the three-hour 2024 film, The Count of Montecristo in French because Pierre Niney plays Edmond Dantes.

Supposed to have quite the winter storm in the Midwest! Assuming adequate snow, will try to go snowboarding. Otherwise hunker down, enjoy a cigar, and prepare for the flood of emails when everyone returns to work 🙃

Im in KC - some parts of the metro may see well over a foot of snow and a quarter inch of ice underneath.

Prepping for the return to work on Monday and doing a house cull of all the 2024 clutter. Dinner with friends with a fair whack of different wines up for offer, should be fun.

I am coping with plunging NY temperatures, 20-30 F for the next 10 days at least and probably 2 months. I just returned from a couple of weeks in Naples, FL - wouldn't have minded a couple of more weeks there 😉 tbh.

Getting my son off to basketball this morning & back to the work routine on Monday. My reward: Daily cigars in the warmth of my car lol during work calls & commuting. I have a couple of other things coming up to look forward to - daughters 4th b'day party, an old friend in town, a fancy dinner w/ my bro (911 survivor), weekend snowboard trip for kiddos. Someone once said, "the secret to happiness is always having something good to look forward too."  - stayed w/ me.

Just got back to Chicago yesterday. 13 degrees this morning. Was in Naples FL for two weeks for holidays. A rough re-entry to winter weather.

Going to a small lacrosse team party with my 14yr old tonight.  I’m making a classic brandy cream peppercorn sauce for the meat. I got off easy! Will be taking my best NCs as nobody will appreciate the CC stash…and I’ll likely be supplying 15 cigars.
