Popular Post El Presidente Posted December 30, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2024 New Year's Eve Plans and New Years Celebratory Cigar? Di and I have a late dinner planned on the beach here at Bokarina. Simple fare accompanied by a bottle or two of Ayala Blanc de Blanc Champagne. No, the house has nothing to do with my family tree......but I am happy to play on it whenever I can From the beach we will be able to watch the fireworks from Mooloolaba (5 km away). I have brought one of those BR 109 to kick the year in. It is going to be a huge year indeed. What are you up to? 10
Popular Post BoliDan Posted December 30, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2024 Some CoRos just hit the 5 year mark so see how they're coming. Not sure about that box code, might need to go back to sleep. As for the celebration 9
Popular Post Chibearsv Posted December 30, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2024 Last day of the year is usually a very busy one at work, so no firm plans yet for NYE. Dinner out with friends at our local Italian restaurant before they head to Florida for the next 3 months is likely. Saturday is another friend's annual New Year party at their home. That one's always fun with a lot of Swedish and German food. It's fun to watch my wife cringe as I stuff myself with pickled herring and meatballs.😁 I think a Punch DC for New Years Day sounds like a good way to start the year. 10
Popular Post loose_axle Posted December 30, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2024 I’ve got dinner at my sister's tonight and lunch with my brothers family tomorrow. I don’t really stay up anymore but tomorrow there’ll be a few bottles of Andre Clouet, Gustave Lorentz Riesling and Amon Ra Shiraz going around. Cigar wise it’ll be a Davidoff Millennium Piramides. I usually chuck on Dream Theater’s Falling into Infinity and light up then with a whisky or rum. 7
Popular Post MC4 Posted December 30, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2024 Having a few friends over, and after they leave, plan to smoke a Monte 520. 8
Popular Post Ford2112 Posted December 31, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2024 Padron 64 Anni Maduro while I stay in and avoid the drunks. Probably go fish on New Year's day. 7
Popular Post ha_banos Posted December 31, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2024 Stay home. Someone ... Had a mishap ice skating last week and fell dislocating her shoulder. Seems to have been popped back in ok. But call with the VFC and some physio from next week. Steak dinner at home. I'll smoke through a RG 88 AP from secret Santa. And a few drinks while we watch some fireworks on the telly. Here's looking towards 2025. Happy new year all. Hope it's a good one for us all 🎉🍾🎇 8
Popular Post GaryK 54 Posted December 31, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2024 Italian dinner at The Fellas restaurant on The Bund in Shanghai for NYE. At midnight, I’ll lighting up a well-aged Lusi (from our gracious host, of course) on the restaurant’s terrace while watching fireworks, a laser light show, and a drone show over the Huangpu River while a bazillion people mill around at street level. Probably 02:00 before the crowds clear sufficiently to make our way back to our home 3km away from the river! Plenty of time to enjoy one of my favourite cigars. New Year’s Day, a 2018 Bolgheri Sassicaia with Beef Wellington. Back to work on 2 January. 10
Popular Post Li Bai Posted December 31, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2024 Dinner with the wife and kids, might smoke a Sir Winston when they're asleep 👍 Happy New Year's Eve everyone 🥳 10
Popular Post Dr Process Posted December 31, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2024 Steak dinner with the wife. Mac and cheese or cereal (perhaps both?) for the gremlins. It’s actually going to be in the 40s tonight here in central PA. So, maybe, if the winds are gentle, can get a cigar in. I scored some Cohiba Medio Siglos on BR a few months ago. They’re young, but might be give them a go. I do have some Partagas D6 rolling around the humidor too. Will be a game time decision. Happy new year’s all! 6
Popular Post BrightonCorgi Posted December 31, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2024 I'm likely to be in bed at 10:30 and may set the alarm clock for 11:55. Reading through this thread, a Cohiba sounds like a good idea for tonight! We are making a paella for dinner the wife is expecting Champagne at some point. A Cava makes sense. The only one I have a super fancy one in a Magnum 😒. That one will have to wait. Plenty of other choices. A happy new year's to all. 5
Popular Post joeypots Posted December 31, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2024 Going to see fireworks and grab a nice dinner with dear friends. First cigar of the year tomorrow soon to be determined. 5

Havanaaddict Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 So what cigar or cigars do you plan on smoking to bring in the new year?

Can't spoil these kids too much. Gotta keep them grounded. I let the boy have a puff of my CoRo though, just for comparison. 2 1 1

I want them with liquor and playing blackjack before you claim that title. Happy New Year! Mines only 7. We went bowling. Maybe he wants a D4 though. 2 2

I have brought one of those BR 109 to kick the year in. It is going to be a huge year indeed. What are you up to? cannot believe that there is even a place called bokarina. that entire strip, Caloundra to Mooloolaba, was thick bush when i was a kid. dad and i used to use the tracks a few fishermen had made and walk through - about 800 yards or so from memory, to the beach. hard to get the surf rods through the bush. caught a lot of good fish in those days. Curramundi had a little beach shack that doubled as the general store. there was nothing else. now, they have a freaking university????? i do remember we fished late one night but we had forgotten our torches. going back through that bush in pitch black was not fun. for new year, at friends (one of whom is far and away the most outrageous human i know when he has a drink and he did not disappoint but this is a family site). a Nudie and some Pol Roger Rose 2018 to kick off. brilliant champers. more Pol, Bollinger and plenty more. we no longer worry too much about midnight. so crashed about ten minutes to. i was staying with them so i thought i would read a few pages of a book i had just started that arvo before sleep. Don Winslow's final book - the end of the City trilogy (he is a brilliant writer - the trilogy about the Mexican cartels is jawdroppingly good). next thing i know, it is five am and i have finished the thing. tried to sleep - had the weirdest nightmare that London turned into some baroque willy wonka set and i was trying to get home but it kept changing and people kept trying to mug me and steal everything i had. bizarre and not overly conducive to sleep. so today, whacked. but a top night. 6
