Puros Y Vino Posted December 5 Posted December 5 2022 = Vintage? Pass. This is getting ridiculous. The only redeeming quality of this release is that 2022 was the year CA announced the Upmann No 2 as the No.1 cigar of the year. With the winning cigar have a MAY 2022 boxcode. 4
Popular Post 99call Posted December 5 Popular Post Posted December 5 My first thought was: "OOooooo! look!...you get an extra two cigars! thats nice of them." How quickly you get conditioned in abusive relationships. Ha! 1 7

BrightonCorgi Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Is this going to be a big seller in Spain? Seems like their market is geared towards just cigars without all the fancy packaging.
gormag38 Posted December 6 Posted December 6 I was torn for a moment. The 21/22 HU2s have been some of the best cigars I've smoked in the last year or two. I hoovered a 1/4 box offering of 2021s from our host and I snagged a 22 box afterward and have done my best to keep my paws off. (Maybe only 6 or so smoked). Would I love to have another box from this year? Absolutely. Am I going to pay more for a lacquered box and 3 less sticks? Absolutely not. I would rather scour BR or another secondary site and find a RP box from this time period at the same price.
joeypots Posted December 6 Posted December 6 I typed up a rant and deleted it when I first saw this. This is more civil. It’s tragic, what the Cuban cigar industry has sunk to. I bet more good will would come from a merchant who says to his customers, “Ya oughta grab these Unman #2s before they are gone.” than a ridiculous rebox and a super band.

The only thing notable about Habanos is actually how late they cottoned on the the excesses of the capitalist luxury market game. They have a luxury product, and they are just doing what everyone else does. They are only worth what people will buy them for...and the mega wealthy will buy them for A LOT!!...maybe the mega wealthy are the problem 🤔 ? Just sayin'! 4

I’m thinking more about the reboxing with bands in Spain than the Cuban cigar industry. And I do not have much knowledge of the industry at all. If I get it right, in Spain the cigars were taken out of their box and put into another. It’s just a little too aggressive a play and isn't a class move in my book. 1

The price would solely be dictated by the size and quality of the cigars. The craven repackaging is just one greasy pole, leading onto another greasy pole. It's the name of the game. 3

Someone looked at each cigar, applied an additional band and place them in a new box. 1

JV0505 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Two years of age makes them vintage? That means my two year old should be eligible for social security next year 🤦🏾♂️ 1
Shakey Posted December 9 Posted December 9 @El Presidente - how common is it for a regional distributor to keep a thousand boxes of cigars in storage for a few years in order to do a release like this? I’m guessing that quantity is a very small part of a very large inventory but I don’t know how much stock a regional keeps in storage.
