Monte Petit No.2...For ppl who like 1 hour smokes!

The day after a Thursday evening herf with some of the London crew - where some gorgeous sticks were shared and smoked - but the company was too good to interrupt to take the necessary pics or notes for a review 😁, I travelled to York for the UK Championship snooker. On arrival I was looking for a comfortable place to eat, drink and smoke to kick the weekend off correctly! This was a better opportunity for a review.

I chose this Monte Petit No.2 (young single purchased, no box code) as I'd wanted to try one for a while. Real Monte 2 used to be a regular in my rotation but not any more due to pricing. In this case I needed a smoke that wouldn't last too much more than 1 hour.

It had an attractive shiny dark wrapper and felt firm. I had to cut twice to open it up a bit more but even after the further cut the draw was still tight.

A really rich opening: A hint of dark choc, a hint of fruitiness, and bags of Cuban twang. It paired well with the Black Sheep Ale, and I had a sourdough pizza on order.

I was comfortable and warm and protected from the drizzle and cold by a large parasol and heaters. Pizza arrived - pizza>beer>stick, repeat! An enjoyable winter experience.

The draw never really opened up so a little bit of effort was required for each draw but I didn't really notice it much after a while. Choc and fruit remained but the richness faded out. There was a touch of saltiness that added something different.

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The hopiness and fruitiness of the ale paired well, as did the pizza with the tangy sourdough crust and salty meats.

I'd give this a 91. It had a lot of Cuban goodness, and still has room for improvement. Included are pics of York Minster and snooker from the Barbican Theatre. A wonderful weekend in one of England's finest cities. 🤩

Appreciate the review! I have a few of these and the one I had a few months ago had the honey/cocoa/twang thing going on that was quite pleasant. I plan to smoke the next one from this batch at the 6-month mark in a few weeks.
