El Presidente Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Happy Thanksgiving to all our US members! I know most of you would be preparing the Thanksgiving feast as well as choosing your cigars and drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) for the next few days. I respect the Thanksgiving holiday and the traditions that surround it. On behalf of all the team here.....Happy Thanksgiving!!!!! Make share you share some photo's in order that we can live vicariously! What's have you got planned for Thanksgiving? 4
HailState Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Just finished cooking the sides, plan on waking up early and firing the Traeger on up. Going to do a couple of whole chickens, a ham, and a picanha just to shake things up. Cigar smoked during this time will depend on temperature. Might be a HDM Rio Seco, might be an ERDM Demi Tasse. 4
MrBirdman Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Spending the day with my Dad's side of the family at my aunt/uncle's house (which is also the house I grew up in). We just lost my grandfather last week, so we are looking forward to seeing each other again. Family is so important at such a time. 2 3
Lamboinee Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Going to friendsgiving Wed. evening. Then my mother's for Thanksgiving day where there will be much love, obligatory conversation, needless coddling from aunt J and my mother, and hopefully a mildly uncomfortable and contentious discussion regarding the BS that cousin Ann has been putting her saintly father through recently. She's flown under the radar for almost 30 years before pulling some objectively horrible shenanigans lately. Although it doesn't concern me directly, I will observe and cast disapproving side-eyed glares as appropriate. Uncle Jack deserves better. The food will be good. I have yet to select a celebratory holiday cigar. 4

He was the quintessential cigar loving grandfather until he gave them up on doctor's orders. Classic old-school NC smoker - he liked his $2 Dominican cigars. He didn't like anything nice we bought him, including Davidoff. Next time we're on Zoom I'll share some stories - he was unique, kind but also tough as nails. He passed at home with family, peacefully, which is a blessing: the man hated hospitals. He put off going to the ER for 3 days while having a heart attack. For the first few days the doctors told us he wouldn't make it. That was in 2017. Wonderful, humble and wise man. I'll miss him. 3 5
Popular Post riderpride Posted November 28, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 28, 2024 Not American, but I always toast our neighbors with some Wild Turkey Rare Breed on their Thanksgiving and enjoy some football. 'Gobble till ya wobble' lol Cheers! 7
pohlmad Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Normal family activities of too much eating and drinking. Saturday tailgating with family and friends and attending 'The Game' where my Buckeyes look to ‘leave no doubt’ on who the better team is!! For the tailgate, I’ll have QD50’s and JL1’s available with the food and drinks! O-H!!! 3
Popular Post Chas.Alpha Posted November 28, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 28, 2024 I normally dry brine the turkey, but noticed after thawing the 12 pound bird that it would fit easily in one of my cheese pots! Wet brined since Monday night, bird in the oven at 0815. Honeybaked ham and two sides in the fridge. I have to boil my Minnesota wild rice after I finish this Trini Reyes that @Nevrknow gave me. If the Bears 🐻 can manage to knock the Lions off of their perch my day will be complete! I actually have tomorrow and the weekend off!!! Not a usual occurrence.😔 ☮️ 6
Wookie Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Trying a buttermilk brine this year. Spatchcocking the bird. 3
Popular Post Chibearsv Posted November 28, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 28, 2024 In my Thanksgiving zone. Turkey on the smoker, gravy made, sides ready for the oven, Bears pre game on the TV, N1 and coffee. I’ve got a lot to be thankful for, and most of them will be here later for dinner. Cheers all! 8

Popular Post Ford2112 Posted November 28, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 28, 2024 I have a full day as luckily I get to go to my sister's place and see the kids and watch a little football. She always has great charcuterie. Then it is off to say hi to my best friend and his family. I am spending the rest of the day with my folks. I am grateful to have them both still in my life. So grateful in fact, that I will smoke a Sir Winston this evening after dinner! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you ! 😊 🦃 6
Popular Post chasy Posted November 28, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 28, 2024 We have outsourced all Thanksgiving this year. Going to a club I belong to in the city which is known for their tremendous kitchen - rare for a club! Very thankful across the board, too many things to list but my wife and I are blessed with a feisty 18 month old whom we are beyond thankful for. 6
rabidraccoon Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I do not have to time to travel home this year so it'll be my first ever Thanksgiving without going home to family, but thankfully I have local friends to celebrate it with. I am going a bit pre-Columbian this year with turkey in a black mole sauce and heirloom beans. My family is doing turkeys and ducks along with the tradional casseroles, candied yams and cornbread. Thanksgiving and Halloween are my favorite holidays though. Fall/Harvest festivals are one of our most cherished cultural traditions as humans! Many cultures are around the world have analogous celebrations (in the northerly latitudes at least). 4
