Boy after reading all these glowing reviews I think I have to break into my 21 box again. I've tried maybe 6-8 times with this cigar, from multiple codes but all from 19-22, and have just never 'got it'. Wasn't a bad cigar but certainly not one that I thought was great. DEFINITELY not one I'm going to pay $550 for a box. Maybe a 86-88 pointer for me.

I have an BLT 2021 PSP/HQ box from our host that smells and looks HEAVENLY but doesn't give me the same experience when I smoke them. I think I've smoked a few across a year from and probably handed out about 10 sticks from the box thinking that it just isn't for me. After at least a year since my last one I'll give it another go and see if the light 'turns on' for me.

No matter how you look at the results here, this is a great result for the Partagas Serie D 4.

Would there be any other regular joe cigar that could challenge these numbers today?

I think the JL2 is a similar trusty workhorse. Cheaper to boot. I have to be in the mood for a D4. Whereas Id smoke a JL2 anytime, anywhere.

Would love to see the US sale stats for the D4 pre and post Tony Soprano smoking them. I have a feeling they would have doubled, if not more.

I agree the results are very good. It's an interesting qualifier to have these cigars be "in your rotation". I understand you don't want a rating based on a one box or one stick sample, but if these are truly in your rotation, you'd expect them to rate higher than average, wouldn't you?

Some weeks ago, I was fortunate to have a 2006 D4 (as part of a blind cigar tasting) and I did not even recognize it as a Partagás (?!?)

It was so much more subtly complex than my perception of a D4; it was truly stunning.

It made me want to put all of my Partagás away for years and years so they could become so wonderful and multidimensional.

I've never "gotten" the younger ones,...as a well aged Partagás is a thing of beauty.  -c

The D4 with 2-3 years of age is my favorite robusto. The 2023 are excellent and best I have tasted in a long time. I can’t get enough of them. Waiting for the the two box deal on FOH!😎
