Calling FOH Green Thumbs

I only really mentally relax when I am on the water fishing or in the garden tinkering with my plants. I wouldn't consider myself a "green thumb", but I am no dudder either. I do have a masochist metality to plants in that I continually try to grow stuff that has previously defeated me time after time. I believe that is the definition of insanity .....I will wear it. 

So, this will be an ongoing thread is for the FOH Green Thumbs.

i will post this. very proud.

i am also proud of these (well, more proud of my green thumb than ability to post photos. that said, when i went away, i thought the thing was dead. came back to the flowers. a green thumb even when not home.

I’d actually love to see more on the man cave set up. Have always wondered how you have that raised level of plants in the background. Also, is the man cave a four season room? Or is it semi-outdoor?

Simple set up.

Backdrop use to be a custom built 6000 litre fish tank that we converted initially to a terrarium and now an open raised garden.

 

Side shot, BBQ, exhaust, remote control drop blinds and shutters. 

Front: TV, air-conditioning.

 

All season. Can be open or closed. Ceiling has three exhaust fans to clear smoke if closed (winter nights).

I live on a plant nursery in Hawaii. Some photos from our property. That big lawn area is my nightly smoking spot. Ironically, I don't have that great a green thumb. That part my pops is in charge of.

I'll shoot my shot here lol (I miss summer/springtime rn). I made some basic flower gardens (elaborate one in backyard not pictured here). My dad was old school Italian gardener, lots of tomatoes & tons of other veggies...fig trees etc, etc.

Maybe one day I'll get there.

Lime tree in my office has seen better days. It had 4-5 limes on it that were fantastic and now it looks like this 😒

Just planted yesterday. Tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, parsley, Thai basil, and oregano.

 Queen of the night epiphyllums, the flowers only open once a year (one day) at night. Floral vanilla scent. The flower is the size of a dinner plate. I was having a cuba libre and Punch Punch when they opened...while watching the rugby. 😉

I've gotten into gardening over the past couple of years! I've become very interested rare and unusual conifers, and a member of the American Conifer Society. This is my project from last summer - it's always going to be a work in progress, and I've added maybe 20 more cultivars since I shot this last august. I enjoy doing things myself, and this was a 2 year project - phase 1 was two summers ago when I removed the original landscaping and tarped off the lawn for a year to kill it, this past summer was the fun part where I got to create the pond, and basically everything you see here. Really happy with the results!

My back yard is planted more in a family style, most everything back there is fragrant, I have a small section of roses, and I have a lot of flowering vines along the fences. Nice fig tree back there too.

This amaryllis appeared yesterday. I swear, in the days before, there was only a stem with a folded up green 'bulb' at the top. They grow up so quickly...
