Sia Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 I am not sure if this cigar qualifies for 'Cheap & Cheerful' as it is a Nicaraguan Petit Robusto that costs above $10 so not exactly cheap for a NW this size. But comparing to some of the Cuban cigars out there, one could call it that. Like much else in life, it is about perspective no? Anywhomst, I have heard Warped, if you are familiar with the brand, is on a mission to provide that Cubanesque flavour. Call it imitation? filling a gap in the NW/NC market? a successful or desperate attempt? I'm not exactly sure as I'm not in the business of labels and definitive answers; too limiting and dangerous from my perspective. I tried the Warped Maestro Del Tiempo Petit Robusto tonight - Definitely pleasant, notes of coco, cream and vanilla and above mild pepperiness/strength - although I think the cigar was still a bit too humid (stored at 19 C and 69% RH in electronic humidor) - I only dry-boxed for a few hours and it rained in Sydney today so house/box RH is above 60%; this may have been a culprit. I did not mind the pepperiness; it was a kick in the sinus I needed. Again much like in life, an unexpected kick in it can do you some good from time to time. Flavours a bit reminiscent of Cuban classics - at least to this elementary, just above unsophisticated palate. I liked it! Let me know if you have tried. Thoughts and dialogues are welcome; both about the cigar and life analogies 4
Habanoschris Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Nice review & I have tried a bunch of these. I like them overall. Was one of my go to non Cuban cigars about 6 years ago. I preferred the Lonsdale format and I'm sure I have at least one single left. 👌😚💨 1

No surprise why it's still being produced. Yes most reviews I saw had the Lonsdale; I'll try that one for sure! 1

David8406 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 After reading a review of this line by @TacoSauce, I picked up a sampler of lonsdales recently and just finished smoking the first of it. Apart from a few burn issues, I enjoyed this as much as any non-Cuban I’ve smoked. Cedar, cream, vanilla…all bundled in a very approachable medium-strength cigar. Disappointed to hear they are discontinuing the line. I should pick up a few boxes while they are still available. https://halfwheel.com/warped-discontinues-futuro-maestro-del-tiempo/445990/ 2

However, the last one I had, had the sweetness dialed down and the woodiness dialed up. I really hope that isn't a consistent effect of aging the sticks.
griller Posted March 2 Posted March 2 I have to second the Lonsdale size (believe it's called "5205") as being a solid NC for those of us priced out of the CC world when it comes to everyday cigars. Snagged a box about a year ago & may have to grab another one if it's going to be discontinued. Would really be a shame... 1
