LordAnubis Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Got about a week with the wife and kids away and am enjoying some cigars in my back yard for once. First time since I moved in. Am I the only one who doesn’t want to smoke when my wife and kid are home? Even on the golf course I don’t smoke if someone brings their kids along etc. Anyone else do the same or only smoke in certain situations etc? 4 year old d4 I had was fantastic. Siglo 1 was also good. Picadores was disappointing.
JohnS Posted October 14 Posted October 14 My wife and I are currently re-watching Mad Men (on Netflix). There's a scene in Season 4 where Roger (one of the Advertising Agency partners) is holding Joan's (the firm's executive secretary) newborn baby while smoking a cigarette, in the office. You can hardly believe that this was once normal (as the show is set in the 1960s)! 1
cnov Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I have friends that don't smoke in front of kids. I'm not fussed about smoking cigars when they're around, it's always outside and I figure that by the time my kids are old enough to even think about smoking, it'll likely be a thing of the past. Life's too short, we're not guaranteed a long life and where we are, warm sunny days aren't the norm. You can bet that once the beach BBQ is getting up to temp, I'll be having a cigar and a beer. Then when all the food is cooked, probably another. 2
Dr vonPuffenberg Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I don’t personally mind smoking around the family because I love cigars so much and there is literally nothing wrong with cigars. It’s my parenting philosophy (time will tell if it’s a good philosophy) that making a fuss about something only drives curiosity and a desire to do the “bad” thing when the kid grows up. When I’m done smoking, I’m happy to wash up and change so I’m not stinking up the house. No doubt my daughter will associate backyard memories with me and a cigar, but again, I just don’t think cigars are bad. Either way, enjoy a little peace and quiet! 1

Exactly, I think inside - keeping it smoke free is nice in terms of kids/general living but outside it’s fair game to have one and clean up so it doesn’t smell.

Hey...teach your children well Doc!! 😀
Chitmo Posted October 24 Posted October 24 My kids know I smoke and have seen it, I don’t really smoke around them though.
