Ken Gargett Posted October 11 Posted October 11 nice quiet week this week, after last week finished with a pair of lunches. the usual first Thursday lunch (first one i have made this year) with the theme, top Italian, and then on Friday, there were some old mates, winemakers, up for a big customer event so we grabbed a few of them - Michael Dhillon of Bindi, Tim Kirk of Clonakilla, Charlie Melton, Dave Bicknell of Oakridge - and supplemented them with some local friends. the theme was something good. a few of the wines (really hoping they go upright and john does not have to fix them but i won't hold my breath). 3

JohnS Posted October 11 Posted October 11 F.Scott Fitzgerald's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" was first published in 1922. A little over a hundred years later, I am grateful Ken could bring forth, "The Curious Case of the Wines and the Lizard". What an intriguing story! 1 3
Popular Post Pvalue83 Posted October 11 Popular Post Posted October 11 Amazing stuff @Ken Gargett. Inspired me to share a photo from a dinner I was lucky enough to attend this past week (it's a wine club, goodness knows how I lucked my way in as these folks are playing at a different level to me and my paltry collection). I was most interested to see how the Haut Brion performed (never having tried it before and, well, you know the saying about meeting your heroes). In so far as '89 Haut Brion is a 'hero' wine, I must say it lived up to every possible expectation and then some. Ditto the '89 Palmer. Impossible to overstate the incredible generosity of the other 7 attendees who shared these incredible bottles - what an experience that I will cherish forever. After dinner we finished with a party short . Life is best when sharing. Line-up: 1966 Chateau Gruaud Larose 1966 Domaine De Chevalier 1999 Château Margaux 1989 Chateau Haut-Brion 1989 Château Palmer 1995 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild 2011 Chateau Leoville Barton 2005 Chateau Brane-Cantenac 1974 Chateau Latour 1976 Chateau Romer du Hayot 7
BoliDan Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Always enjoy your fine dining experiences. How was the lizard? 3
Shakey Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Amazing lineup, Ken. Although I have to say that if the last pic is a selfie you may want to moisturize a bit - your skin is looking dry. 🙂 1

Ken Gargett Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 huge thanks, presumably to John, for fixing them. i hope he won't mind if i try and load the Friday lunch. although i did miss a few. might give them their own thread. 2
