This is a massive part of my life, and I don't think I have really seen it discussed through my lurking. Who do we have and what have you got? I'll start, my current fleet lineup is my E90 M3, E46 M3,

1988 911 Targa

2015 Audi A6 3.0T and 2020 Audi Q8. I'm not necessarily a diehard Audi dude, just so happens my current cars are both Audis.

If I had to do over again, would strongly consider a bmw SUV over the Audi if only for the better front seat option (I'm tall and bmw has better leg extenders). The A6 is the best car I've owned and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

If I had to choose an "attainable" dream car to buy at the moment I would choose either: mid engine Vette Z06 (as a newer option) or a 30s Ford model A hot rod or late 70s Chevy Silverado (for older options).

Love all things cars and Id love to get more involved with kart or track events, but the closest track is still hours away from me and I don't  have a track car.

I also do a bit of e-racing on various platforms and games if anyone is interested. I reserve the right to troll any Tesla posts.

I've owned a string of British cars. I try to stay away from German cars.

Currently an Aston Martin Rapide which I have owned ~7 years. It's my daily driver, even in the winter with New England snow. My wife has a Volvo V60 CC estate.

66 estate....like the old ones? Bad A. And kudos to a the rapide as well. As for your aversion to ze Germans, ill.chalk that up to xenophobia lol.

Volvo has some of my favorite new styling. Everything they make looks gooder than a barrel of booty...too bad they don't offer a bigger engine in their sedan and too bad their new interiors are underwhelming at best imo. I'm afraid they might be in for tough times despite my high hopes for their polestar product.

Very cool that you're into Karting, I was when I was younger. Honestly, I would love to start again! Typically, I run with NASA but I run with anyone that is local. I'm an instructor so I don't have to pay track fees which is the only way I could afford going to the track. Love the Rapide, such a beautiful grand touring car. Only thing I could have asked for differently on that car is a shooting brake version.

I frequent iRacing, Assetto Corsa, ACC, and some other computer-based racing sims. Lmk if you are on any of those so we can turn some laps!

This old 6'5" dude loves his X5 due in part to those seat extenders. It's the right car for me at this point in my life.

The league is the biggest electric indoor Karting league in the country, so I am told. Interesting thing is they can stop the whole race with a button. I was stopped on a hill last night and had to reverse to the bottom before the race resumed. 😞

I don't mind the lack of engine variety. We used to have a T6 XC60 Inscription and I thought that it actually too much power! I would've preferred the Bower & Wilkens stereo over the T6 engine (2.0L 4 cylinder that is supercharged and turbocharged).

As for German cars, there are circles I am in where driving a German car is not appreciated. I'll leave it at that. My family has owned a couple.  We had an '85 MB 500 SEC as the family car for like 25 years and an '84 300D for a few years. My sentiment came later in life.

I had already presumed you were cool. And then, when we were on the zoom herf, and you told me about your seat preferences....you took my breathe way, and I KNEW you were cool. I bet someone from Buick is gonna read this post and our input to design the perfect old dude car with seats so deep out feet are dangling in the air.

6’8” here. Chicago winters. Think I’m doing the 2025 X5. Can do delivery next month. Wife thinks an Audi Q7 will be more practical…Thoughts?

My wife has a X7. I'm 6'3" 195 and I fit with a ton of room to spare. Even if you have the front seats wayyyyy back there's still ample room in the second row. For the X5 or X7 make sure it is a 40i. the B58b30 engines is one of the most overbuilt factory engines produced today. Stout, reliable, powerful, and fuel efficient. Will last 200k or more.

More practical how? Do you need third row as standard? Go try the infotainment and see which one you hate less. The x5 probably drives a little better. But I think it might come with staggered wheels, which is annoying.

Yes. It’s embarrassing, but with a second on the way and a 50lb dog, she thinks X5 won’t work for the 3-4 times a year we do a longer drive (4-5 hrs). Two baby seats in the back doesn’t leave room for dog (who she won’t put in truck area).

So we’ll see. I feel silly getting a bigger car for what is 3-4 times a year we road trip. We also live smack downtown in Chicago so a slightly more maneuvrable car is preferred…

Truly open to ideas as this is a real time decision.

If you live in the city, consider a Range Rover. The turning radius is so tight on them, it makes a great car to park and maneuver.

I think we’d be entering some high cotton with that ride…

Put one of the kids in the trunk so that the dog is more comfortable.

You're welcome

I’ve had a Q7 for 4 years ish now, chose it over an X5. But I have 3 kids, so space was the main consideration. That said, it’s a very enjoyable car to drive.

2023 Subaru BRZ Limited.

I’ve had it for a year and every time I drive it I smile. This is an old fashioned sports car. Naturally aspirated 2.5 L boxer engine that sits low and as far back as a front engine real wheel drive can. 6 Speed manual transmission. I was looking at a Miata just to buzz around town but didn’t fit in it. This thing fits and has room for enough stuff for a weekend or a bicycle. It isn’t  scary fast at all but around corners it’s excellent. Too much going on this year to go to the track but I will get there if I don’t get arrested in it first.

Looks sharp in black.

I couldn't usually give a monkeys about cars, but the new Aston Valiant is absolutely filthy...in a good way.

I think Aston Martin and Jaguar make the most beautiful cars and that one certainly qualifies. Nice
