FOH Group Project Input : Multitool

While in Dortmund, one of my key objectives was to evaluate potential partners for the development of the ultimate cigar lover multi tool. 

Well, I believe we have found one. Quality high, cost/quality ratio spot on.   

They would love to work with FOH in the development of such a palm sized multitool. 

 

Step One: 

List one or two cigar tools that you would love to see incorporated 

push the envelope people 

After this thread, they will move to the design stage

Edit: sometimes I can't find the edge or the foil digs in under my nail! 🫨

Start with this. Delete the file and add a draw/reamer tool and you are done. I don’t need a guillotine tool, the small blade gets very sharp with a little care and cleanly cuts around the cap of the cigar.

And change the scissors to needle nose pliers/pincers instead. Good call.

Those scissors were the weak point of that Victorinox. Good upgrade required. No need for a nail file. 

I would like to see an incorporated cigar stand.

  I've eventually settled on perfecdraw and a sharp blade (Usually a cheese knife) and that does pretty much anything I need.

  So for me, something that's a razor sharp blade and a draw tool that is more of a drill than a pure poker would fulfill my needs. I'd guess it would be reasonably compact if it just had those two tools; less room being taken up in the pockets is always a bonus.

First thought a push out one. One that comes apart from the rest. That's a big increase in cost...and maybe size  how far do want to go. Maybe a cover for the device that is actually the cigar stand. You could make it work. Just 30 seconds from me.

I think the others covered everything, the only thing I can think of but not high necessity is that some lighters like the one I have (below) have a groove in them where cigars can rest...not sure if tool dimensions would make something like this feasible or not.

Draw tool as close to the PD as you could get or license it and an 8mm/11mm punch. If you weren't worried about adding size/mass then a single jet torch as well. Run the butane tank length wise and the OD of the final tool would probably still be under the dimensions of most tubos. Those three items and a cigar and I am content for ever.

There will be no torch/lighter. 

We would want this to be a tool you can take pretty much anywhere without the risk of seizure at an airport.

I purchased one of these a couple years ago for $70 used. The eBay account that sold it I think was purchasing confiscated lots from the TSA. While I feel bad for the person who had to give it up I am definitely glad to have it. I got a nice leather case to protect it and have been using it a ton lately. Have you looked at eBay to see current prices? It is crazy $150-$250. A new in the box one sold for $450.

Depends on the length. USA is 4 inches. I will rethink taking into account Oz/Europe/Asia.

You could model it on a Leatherman. Fox like cutter in the inner hinge of the folding two arms. And tools in the body of the two closing handles. You could also have an oldschool push button v cutter on the end of one of the handles.

The two interlocking handles could also have a groove running the length for a cigar rest.

I've always had a Swiss army knife and never used one of the tools other than the knife.
