Dortmund Intertabak

Recommended Posts

The largest tobacco show in the world. Apparently.

The only reason I am here is to catch up with industry mates and to look for new accessories and new ideas.  Dortmund isn't a rocking city. It has a great football team and ........a great football team. :lookaround:  Fairs fair. I haven't done much research bar .....going from bar to bar..... so apologies in advance to Dortmund natives Good news is you can pretty much smoke a cigar anywhere. That is generally the highlight of a meal.

Somehow, the dour nature of the city suits the zoo that is Intertabac pefectly.  Itntertabak is industry and you have the full array of spivs, snake oil salesman, established legends, up and comers, dreamers, pretenders. There are cigars, pipe, pouches, cannabis, vape, shisha, and shit I still don't know where to insert/what to do with.

Yesterday was day one and I have completed most of my objectives. Today I will take and post some photos for you. Come along to Dortmund Intertabak with me ;)

Hallo from Dortmund, Germany.

After a one year hiatus, I am back to cover InterTabac, a trade show that I’ve been covering for more than a decade. As has been well-documented before, this trade show has grown leaps and bounds and now draws a near-complete roster of non-Cuban cigar companies, a stark contrast to 2012, when many prominent brands had little to no presence.

Looks like quite an event. Interesting to see how focused some cigar brands are to a particular consumer profile. Some presentations and logos are a total turn off to me yet someone else would say "I got to get a box of those!" And vice versa.

The vendors really spent some money to be there and showcase their portfolios.

Exactly. Some are very gaudy and would instantly steer me away. Very "Ed Hardy" looking. 😆 Sadly, Habanos has started down this path. I can't afford them nowadays anyway. So, no loss to me.
