Popular Post JohnS Posted October 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 2, 2024 Sam Spurr's article on the event for Cigar Journal... Bond Roberts Cigars Launches 109 in London October 2, 2024 - Samuel Spurr Bond Roberts Cigars’ second cigar release, the Línea D No.01, is available now at J.J. Fox London and globally from February 2025 at select brick-and-mortar cigar merchants and online retailers. Launched at a J.J. Fox event in London in September, the Bond Roberts Línea D No.01, 109 (50 ring gauge x 7 ¼ inches) features Honduran wrappers and binders with Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers, but is a completely different blend to the Bond Roberts Línea D No.06, a Petit 109 cigar (50 ring gauge x 5 7/8 inches) launched earlier this year. “The response to the Petit 109 has been overwhelming,” said Rob Ayala, CEO of Bond Roberts via media release. “We didn’t want to wait too long to bring the next cigar in the series to market. Again, Hamlet Paredes, Oscar Valladares, and the Fabrica 5 team have done an exceptional job. Angel Miranda Battle has done a fantastic job with the 109’s packaging.” The Bond Roberts Línea D No.01 will have an anticipated online MSRP of USD$21 and will be distributed in the UK by J.J. Fox and across Europe and Asia by Ravi Mahbubani of COH cigars. Source: https://www.cigarjournal.com/bond-roberts-cigars-launches-109-in-london/ 4 1
Popular Post JohnS Posted October 5, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 5, 2024 Cigar Aficionado's article on this event... Bond Roberts Releases 109-Style Cigar Oct 3, 2024 - By Gregory Mottola Many refer to it as a 109. Others call it a “drop head” or “cabeza tumbada.” And a few even say it’s a campana, or bell. Whatever your terminology, there’s no denying the alluringly curious form of the 109-style head, which resembles a belicoso tip, but with a more subtle taper. Bond Roberts, a U.K.-based online Cuban cigar auction house, has launched a new size in its namesake line, and the cigar is rolled in the Cuban 109 shape. Called the Bond Roberts Línea D No. 1 109, the cigar measures 7 1/4 inches by 50 ring gauge and is made in Honduras with mostly Honduran tobacco save for some Nicaraguan filler. It’s available now and follows the launch of the Petit 109, which came out this summer marking the brand’s debut. Both cigars were blended by Hamlet Paredes and made at the Oscar Valladares factory, but the blend of this new release differs from the Petit 109. Robert Fox (left) and Rob Ayala, the co-founders of Bond Roberts, smoking the Línea D No. 1 109 at the release party in London. The cigars have a suggested retail price of $21 each, come packaged in 50-count cabinets and are sold at James J. Fox retailers in London and Ireland. Early next year, distribution will be expanded on a global level, according to the company, which says there has been interest from retailers in the United States, Asia and Europe. International distribution will be handled by Ravi Mahbubani of COH Cigars. Bond Roberts was started in 2020 by Robert Fox, managing director of James J. Fox Tobacconist, (the oldest cigar retailer in the United Kingdom), and Internet cigar retailer Rob Ayala. “The response to the Petit 109 has been overwhelming,” says Ayala. “We didn’t want to wait too long to bring the next cigar in the series to market.” Source: https://www.cigaraficionado.com/article/bond-roberts-releases-109-style-cigar 4 1
JohnS Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Halfwheel's article on this event... October 3, 2024 - Charlie Minato Bond Roberts Línea D No.01 Debuts The sophomore release from Bond Roberts is now on sale at one store in London. It’s the Línea D No.01, a 7 1/4 x 50 cigar that uses a 109-style cap, a hybrid between the typical round cap of a parejo and the pointed tip of a belicoso. Like the company’s first release, the Bond Roberts Línea D No.06 (5 7/8 x 50), it uses a Honduran wrapper over a Honduran binder and fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua. That said, the company says this is “a completely different blend.” Both cigars were blended by Hamlet Paredes, who works for Bond Roberts, and production is handled by Oscar Valladares Tobacco & Co. in Honduras. Bond Roberts says it expects the cigar to have an MSRP of $21 per cigar. Bond Roberts was founded by the owners of J.J. Fox, the Dublin, Ireland-based retailer, and Friends of Habanos, an online forum and store based in Australia. The company first launched as an online cigar auction platform but has now added its own line of cigars. As of now, the cigar is only available at J.J. Fox’s retail store in London. J.J. Fox will handle distribution in the U.K., while COH Cigars—a Hong Kong-based retailer—will handle distribution for Asia and the rest of Europe. While the smaller Línea D No.06 is already on sale at other retailers, the Línea D No.01 isn’t expected to ship to other stores until February. “The response to the Petit 109 has been overwhelming,” said Rob Ayala, ceo of Bond Roberts, in a press release. “We didn’t want to wait too long to bring the next cigar in the series to market. Again, Hamlet Paredes, Oscar Valladares, and the Fabrica 5 team have done an exceptional job. Angel Miranda Battle has done a fantastic job with the 109’s packaging.” The company says that it plans to have two lines of cigars and up to 15 sizes over the next three years.
