El Presidente Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 Chewing tobacco I know well enough. Cigars .....of course. Chewing cigars?......clueless. 1
EasternPromises Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 I wonder if these are cigars where you just chew the heads or cigars where you pop the entire thing into your mouth and chew. Laurence Davis from Sautter Cigars is a self-confessed cigar “chewer”. From memory, he’s mentioned that it helps him taste the sticks better. 1
Habanoschris Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 from a google search ... " a sweetened and flavored cigar made for slowly chewing instead of smoking. Tu-Tu-Chu was the brand name they used for their chewing cigars. The cigars sold at two for five cents" "The Goldens Cigar manufactory was probably the most successful business to ever operate in Bonneauville, PA. From the beginning to well beyond the mid-20th Century the Golden's manufactured the renowned Blue Ribbon Cigar brand. The family produced many other brands as well. Among them was Bokay, ("B" for Bonneauville), Bunney Boys, ("Bunney" for Bonneauville), Penn Rose, Two Homes, Grande, Newcomers (from which a law suit against the Golden's ensued)" 🤷🏻♂️ 3

Li Bai Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 You probably chew it like a liquorice stick 🤔 I do this sometimes with minis when I can't smoke. 1

I love that history of tobacco where I'd imagine most people would see twist and draw a blank, but with you being in Wales (I think?) and me Yorkshire, that common coal background means that we would have known some family relative or friend who was down the pits and chewed twist? I'd imagine there will be members in West Virginia etc who see it and think the same, but people from areas without that background would be utterly lost seeing that turd-esque thing 2

hangten Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 My grandma had a chewing tobacco habit where she would chew actually green tobacco leaves and cigarettes made for chewing (no filter). She would rub the leaf with some white creme and put chew it together with the cigarette. She was from the Philippines. I imagine this is in the same vein. 2
